Goldman Sachs to buy wind energy firm (Peak Oil Special of the Day)
Goldman Sachs to buy wind energy firm (GS)

By Heather Wilson
SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Goldman Sachs (GS) said Monday that it will acquire Zilkha Renewable Energy for an undisclosed sum. Zilkha is a privately held Houston-based wind energy development firm. The deal is expected to close in the second quarter pending regulatory approval.

Other Reuters story:
NEW YORK, March 21 (Reuters) - Investment bank Goldman
Sachs Group Inc. GS on Monday said it agreed to acquire
Zilkha Renewable Energy, a wind-power development firm, adding
to its growing portfolio of power generation assets.
New York-based Goldman declined to disclose terms of the
transaction. Zilkha Renewable of Houston, led by father and son
team Selim and Michael Zilkha, is developing wind-power
projects with nearly 4,000 megawatts of generating capacity in
a dozen states.
The purchase includes Zilkha's interest in the 200-megawatt
Flat Rock Wind Power project in Lewis County, New York, and its
stake in the 150-MW Blue Canyon Phase II project in Oklahoma.
Both projects are expected to be completed by the end of this
year.

When Goldman Sachs is buying "wind energy" the truth is "oil is dwindling faster than we have been told".

3. Does anyone know
of any publicly traded renewable energy companies to invest in? I don't have a lot of cash, but what little I do have I'd like to have invested in renewable energy when the economy/dollar tanks.

5. Call me a cynic
but I remember when the oil companies were buying photovoltaics and fuel cell "start ups" to get their patent portfolios (for "trading purposes if this ever goes anywhere") and to shut down their research operations.
