Bruce Willis' $1m Saddam bounty
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/showbiz/3141942.stm

Actor Bruce Willis has performed before US soldiers in Telafar, northern Iraq, and offered $1m (£603,000) to the man who captures Saddam Hussein.

"We're here to support you," the star told troops as he sang a set of blues songs with his band, the Accelerator.

"If you catch him, just give me four seconds with Saddam Hussein," he said.

"But being over here just a couple of days, seeing how well our troops and the allied troops are being received here, (I) think the Iraqi people are happy we're here," the Hollywood star said. But the star later admitted he had not met many Iraqis because he had been travelling the country by helicopter.

"If you catch him, just give me four seconds with Saddam Hussein," he said.

Does he really think that Saddam could kick his ass that quickly?

Just my opinion. His existence could be proven quite easily if they wanted. It's better for al-Qaeda if noone knows for sure.

everything is nice and rosey when you've got troops and bodyguards protecting you.

15. Remember Mickey Rourke?
His career was going along well, and then he quit acting to take up boxing and got his ass kicked time and time again. Why? Because he is an actor. He plays tough guys for a living, just like Bruce.

Bruce, I hear there is a new deal where freepers can go to Iraq to show how much they love 'Murika and its boy king. Perhaps you should be on the first boat over there, eh?

actually.

He's a wierd guy. GOOD actor.

He didn't get his ass kicked as a boxer because he was an actor, he got his ass kicked cause he wasn't a good boxer.

Bruce... is bruce. I worked with him on Moonlighting. He could waver between really being a MAJOR asshole, and a really decent guy.

I think he, like most of america, is sadly misinformed on the truth in Iraq.

17. Calling Senator Bruno or is that Gov. Bruno???
Hell, if Ahnuld can be taken as a serious candidate, why can't his former Planet Hollywood Biz partner. C'mon...the Repugs gotta feel sorry for this guy (his wife dumps him for a younger model)...just like Ahnuld, his best movie years are in his rear-view mirror, he hasn't had a serious TV or box office hit in years and his looks get uglier every day. What's a wingnut in Hollywood to do?

Wanna bet there are a bunch of ego-heads in LaLa land who think that if Ahnuld makes it...or comes close, so can they.

25. Saddam is not the issue. Saddam was/is a completely defanged
leader, powerless to hurt anyone outside his borders for over a decade. The hurt he inflicted within his borders was there but probably vastly exagerated and as we have seen may have been keeping a lid on his volatile country. The problem is the US, not Saddam.

37. I had to read this post twice...
for a minute, there I thought you were saying what your words are actually saying.... Saddam "just keeping a lid on things," huh? Dead Kurds in mass graves by the thousands are "greatly exagerated?" Gee, I wish Amnesty International hadn't lied about his torture chambers so much. And he was a SUCH nice, totalitarian dictator -- one of our very favorites. But my favorite line of yours - -sure to be all over Lucianne.com or FreeRep any minute now, is the zinger "The problem is the US, not Saddam." Now that's a sure-fire Presidential election winner!

I strongly opposed a U.S. military assault on a regime the ENTIRE WORLD recognized was a problem. But that's a far cry from asserting that Saddam was not a problem.

Because Willis is talking about how much happer the Iraqis are now that the US has taken over yet he has not bothered to meet any. That marks Willis out as something of a bullshitter if you ask me.

20. Saddam never was the problem. Even now, with all the info

that has come out out the pre-planned pre-emption by Cheney
and the neocons. After all that has come out about quotes from
Powell that Saddam never presented a threat to the U.S.--idiots
that don't read much, like Bruce (oh give me headlines--any
headlines) Willis are still running around with their heads up
their butts. Bruce Willis is an old has-been, and I wouldn't
take his rubber check to the bank any time soon. Stupid.

46. Getting Saddam will likely make matters worse

http://www.commondreams.org/headlines03/0725-01.htm
So no wonder Washington wants to believe Saddam and his late sons are the inspiration for those guerrilla attacks that cost the lives of another three Americans just today. No wonder Deputy Secretary of Defense Paul Wolfowitz clings to the idea that paid assassins are at the heart of resistance to the benevolent American presence. And we should all hope that’s the case, because if it is, then the end of Saddam, which may come soon, could really mean an end to the war.

But Adnan Abu Odeh, a former advisor to Jordan’s King Hussein and one of the region’s real wise men, offers another scenario. He suggests the Iraqi people see themselves struggling against two enemies now: Saddam on the one hand, the American occupiers on the other. “Ironically, if Saddam is killed as well as his two sons,” says Abu Odeh, “that will accelerate the process of seeing the Americans as the real enemy.”

http://www.time.com/time/magazine/printout/0,8816,472852,00.html

While taking Saddam down may demoralize his followers, it would not necessarily dull the anger of these other parties. In fact, many Iraqis believe it would provoke them to stronger action. "Saddam's being caught or killed isn't good for the Americans," says Marouf Sami Noori, brother-in-law of fugitive Taha Yassin Ramadan, Saddam's Vice President. "There are many people who would like to fight against the Americans, but if they fight now, they'll be considered Saddam's people. So the resistance will be stronger if Saddam is captured or killed."

"Our people loved the Americans as a people, even before the war, but now they do not," says an elder who declines to give his name. "The resistance does exist, but it's not to protect Saddam or avenge Uday and Qusay. The resistance belongs to the community." A community that's hard to fit on just one deck of cards.

28. Bruce Willis is a horse's rear end
Edited on Fri Sep-26-03 12:06 PM by CBHagman
No affront is meant to the noble horse, of course.

This is the guy who has been, from what I can tell, a bartender and a highly overpaid actor. He's one of the people who helped drive "star" salaries into the stratospheric levels they are now.

Thanks a LOT, egomaniac.

Since he attained fame on "Moonlighting," he appears to use his press opportunities to bash people he's worked with and to spout off on politics in an ignorant fashion. He recently whined that Teddy Kennedy should get a real job. Well, old Ted did serve in the Army, and I'll wager that social programs he's promoted are more valuable to society than, say, "Hudson Hawk" and "The Color of Night."

Oh, and Bruce, you look like a convict. Learn how to groom yourself! Other primates do.

No affront is meant to other primates.

who were injured from our war.

How about visiting some of the towns and villages ravaged by the war, places that still don't have electricity and water. Go visit them and spend your million dollars in helping them get the basic needs that they are living without.

I think that is better money spent!
