9. aren't 7 of 9 SCOTUS GOP appointed?
With SCOTUS rejecting the appeal, how can these fanatics claim that it is liberal activist judges that are preventing a stay and force the re-insertion of the feeding tube??

The GOP keeps inserting themselves into this thing and its electrocuting them, they surely are gluttons for punishment. We are saying stay out of it, my understanding is that there are 30,000/yr cases of people being kept alive artificially, how is congress going to act on their behalf? I'm sure there are many of those families also disputing over life or death questions of thier loved one!!!

60. Nice Fact Checking
Read a primer on American government, will ya?

US Presidents don't appoint judges in state court.

As much as some of us like to make Repugs look bad at every turn, dumb factual errors like this undermine our real arguments.

Judge Greer ran for his seat on the court in 1992 and won it. He won re-election twice and has already said he won't run again.

This has nothing to do with anyone named Terri. She effectively died long ago. This is all about gutter-whore politics coming back to bite its practitioners, and I'll never apologize about feeling satisfied with the outcome.

Go ahead, Jeb and Crackhead. Go! Storm the hospice and steal the woman. The overwhelming majority of the American public (and even a lot of the fundies!) don't support you. Dig your hole deeper. You wanted this to be a political issue, didn't you? Now it blows up in your faces.

I hate to say it because Terri deserves to pass on with peace and dignity (like there's any chance of that now...), but at the same time this drama is splitting the Republican party. Napolean put it best: "never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake."

45. ABC - Fla. Judge Won't Hear Schiavo Arguments
http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory?id=610727

By MITCH STACY Associated Press Writer
The Associated Press

CLEARWATER, Fla. Mar 24, 2005 — A state judge refused Thursday to hear Gov. Jeb Bush's arguments to take custody of Terri Schiavo, leaving the brain-damaged woman's parents with only the slimmest hopes in their fight to keep her alive. Bush's request cited new allegations of neglect and challenges the diagnoses that Schiavo is in a persistent vegetative state, but Pinellas Circuit Judge George Greer wasn't convinced.

Greer's decision came hours after the U.S. Supreme Court refused to order her feeding tube reinserted. The decisions reduce chances for quick intervention to reconnect the tube, which was pulled last Friday. Doctors have said Schiavo, 41, likely would die in a week or two without nourishment. Schiavo's husband, Michael, had urged the high court Thursday not to intervene, saying her case has been endlessly litigated and state courts have agreed with him that she would want to die.

The appeal by her parents, Bob and Mary Schindler, was part of a rush of legal activity in the unprecedented right-to-die struggle. They have frantically tried to reconnect the tube because they deny Michael Schiavo's arguments that she has no hope for recovery and that she would not have wanted to live in such a state.

54. Amazing. If there was this much fact checking when we have elections,
maybe some of the shit in this country could have been avioded.

58. The problem with their rhetoric (J. Bush, other politicals,
and religious people) is that if they believe what they say they believe, then there's nothing to do but to storym the building and take Terry our of harm's way.

If people are "killing Terry," then there's no choice!

The fact that they won't do it, exposes their rhetoric for what it is.

62. Christo-fascist wet dream
It seems to me if the Bush boys can manage to supersede the Constitution with enough vague political posturing giving higher authority to the "lord's" wishes, then we have a cultural precedent for the eventual elevation of biblical law in America.

The framing of future dominionist power plays is being attempted here. Watch the rhetoric. That's the key to all this IMO.

63. Now the fundies have a theme song.
Faux reporting a local Fl radio station has been playing Eddy Mony's, "Bring me some water" every day at the same time. So now the fundies have a theme song. This is taking a course like the development of "Courage, mom" in "Wag the Dog".

102.5 FM Any Floridians familiar with this station?

http://www.externalharddrive.com/usa/states/radio/florida_fm.html lists the only 102.5's in Florida are

WHPT -102.5 FM - Sarasota, FL - http://www.whpt.com/ but its link is dead.

I did a search on MP3 but could find nothing for EM, but did find the following - http://www.mp3.com/search.php?stype=song&query=bring+me+some+water&action=Search&action.x=19&action.y=11
