Adviser: Bush plan on track
WASHINGTON -- One of 19 top aides to President Bush, Hoosier Al Hubbard is a central figure in Bush's plan to revamp Social Security.

Hubbard, an Indianapolis businessman and former Harvard Business School classmate of the president's, is Bush's economic policy assistant and director of the White House National Economic Council.

<snip>

Hubbard talked about his role in advance of his trip to Indiana on Monday to speak at a Social Security town hall meeting organized by Rep. Dan Burton, R-Ind.

Q: National polls have not shown a lot of support for Bush's efforts to revamp Social Security. How do you explain that?

A: Every poll I've seen of people who understand the president's proposal shows overwhelming support.... <giggle-snort>

:wtf:

4. they're taking "stay on message" all the way past "stay on message even
when it's not working" to the point of "stay on message even when you hear a busy signal, dial tone, or that sound that warns you to hang up."

5. Bush can smile approvingly...
... at his "yes" men. We don't have to.

It's time for the moldy lettuce, overripe tomatoes and leftover meatloaf....

What these guys really need to convince them how the public feels is a little treatment ala Nixon in Latin America in 1956. Armani meets six-week old melons. :)

6. More on Hubbard, and Dan Quayle...
Delightful.

Hubbard is undoubtedly a true believer in the conservative movement. While Bush was drinking and carousing in the late seventies, Hubbard was raising money with his wife for Dan Quayle's 1980 Senatorial campaign. Hubbard managed Delaware Governor Pierre "Pete" du Pont IV's 1988 presidential campaign.

During George H.W. Bush's administration, Quayle's office was a hotbed of conservative radicalism. Bill Kristol was his chief of staff, and Norquist had significant input on economic policy. The Quayle reaction to Bush Sr.'s tax increases was repudiation and escalation of it's anti-regulatory fervor. Hubbard came to the Competitiveness Council during this febrile time, and immediately surrounded himself with libertarian fellow travellers like David MacIntosh. They used their power, unfettered by law or principle, to aid big business.

into as few hands as possible, eliminate all social programs, start as many perpetual wars as possible and retire to a fortified compound in the Cayman Islands, IIRC.

Ooops. I almost forgot raping the Environment.

On edit: D'OH! I forgot Bringing on the Rapture!

13. HAHAHAHAHAHA
Jesus being pulled behind an Astro-Van? What the hell is wrong with people.

Can't you just see Jesus up in the heavens above just shaking his head and thinking "What is wrong with these little creations of mine. I am God and this is the best I can do?"

Do you ever wonder if God will just say "OK, time to start over" and wipe us clean for some new invention of His??

Jesus behind an Astro Van. Oy vey.

The set of people "who understand the president's proposal" consists of people who understand things that do not exist.

18. Every poll we've taken of
people who agree with us shows overwhelming support! 4 out of 5 Wall Street Brokers agree, Bush's plan is "Awesome!" Gordon Gecko says, "Kick start my economy, Baby! Shock and Awe your Grandma!"

This guy lets more out of the bag than he thinks, because he talks about Bush's plan being on track even though Bush claims he doesnt' have a plan. Of course, Bush does have a plan. His plan is to have private accounts---he couldn't possibly care less about the rest.

So when this guy says the plan is on track, he's not talking about a plan for Social Security, he's making a strategic statement about the President's battle plan to win on the private accounts issue.

That's life in Bush World. People that think Chimpy is going to give up on this are mistaken, IMO. He's the most bull-headed man in America, and he doesn't care what you think.

19. Actually I think the endgame is the COLA adjustment
Private accounts are good for wall street but shifting the COLA adjustment from wage-inflation adjusted to price inflation adjusted would be GREAT for Bushco and the Billionaire Boys - it is how they get to keep those Big Ass Tax Cuts. Plus it is confusing enough that they can get the Bullshit Machine focused on it and splinter opposition.

Can we get back to TS and the Impending Rapture now?
