Salazar retreats from no-filibuster position
Sen. Ken Salazar has backed off the position he took during his campaign last year that Democrats should not filibuster President Bush's judicial nominees.
Republicans had been counting on Mr. Salazar, a Democrat from Colorado, as a key vote against the filibusters. His defection is a serious blow to the hopes of Senate Republicans who wanted more bipartisan weight behind their "nuclear option" to dislodge filibusters.
...
In particular, Mr. Specter, Pennsylvania Republican, expected his support for former Interior Department lawyer William G. Myers III, nominated to the 9th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals. As Colorado's attorney general, Mr. Salazar had signed a letter of support for Mr. Myers based on his handling of Western issues such as grazing rights for ranchers.
During his campaign for the Senate, Mr. Salazar pointed to his letter of support for Mr. Myers as proof of his independence from Capitol Hill Democrats.
Mr. Salazar has since withdrawn that support and now says he hasn't decided how he will vote.

7. Have u ever been Colorado?
The only thing that put that man in the senate were Mexicans and Denver, other than that Colorado is nothing but a bunch of right wing, immigration hating, gun fanatics. I don't blame him; don t throw the baby out with bath water.

3. What the hell was Salazar thinking anyway back then?
Was he thinking that Coloradan's want a one party federal government? Is that why the people of Colorado just voted in a democratic legislature? Glad to know that Salazar appears to be waking up.

4. Recent events have screamed of the need for independent judges
I don't know what he was thinking before- he's clearly very "centrist" but Schiavo rulings have made a powerful case for the importance of an independent judiciary. I hope that's what's influenced him. I hope ALL the dems and any thinking repubs react the same way.

5. Maybe he's finally listening to his constituents.
He's my senator, I worked to elect him, but he's been SUCH a clone of that turncoat Nighthorse-Campbell. Maybe I'm not the only one who'e been writing him telling him we elected a DEM, he should act like one.

9. I agree, I've been disapointed with Salazar.
I was happy to see him win in Colorado; even sent him some money. I've been disapointed with some of his votes, but he's from a red state, and the NRA is a force in Colorado, or so I'm told.

If this is true---good for Salazar. Hope he'll continue this trend.
