14. hiccups could mean CNS degenerations
caused by visceral leishmaniasis. It could be stress, PTSD, or even radiation poisoning but i definitely suspect infections in many of these soldiers

We sure used a lot of DU in Iraq, even in Baghdad. Remember the A-10s strafing the Information Ministry?

13. And this death won't appear in the Iraq fatality stats
because it occurred back in the states from an "unknown cause."

15. Of course it'll be unacknowleged
and he'll be one of the uncounted 6000 + deaths. The families of these people need to start getting together.

20. No
Single officers and SNCOs, if they don't own their own home, will normally end their lease before a deployment and put most of their things in storage. This allows them to save their BAH (basic allowance for housing, that is not taxable) and put it into savings. While this might seem like a hassle, BAH can be a lot of money. For example BAH for a 2nd Lt in San Jose, CA is $2,300 a month.

When they return from deployment these officers and SNCO's will move into the BOQ or try find an extra room with a friend or move into a motel until they figure out where they are going to live.
