Newly-repaired Iraq pipeline blown up

Attackers have blown up a pipeline 60km west of Kirkuk, just a day after repairs to the route connecting the lucrative oil field to a major refinery in Baiji.

1. The Iraqis know why we are there.
It has nothing to do with "spreading democracy."

And "fiery militant (choose one) islamic cleric".

But maybe it's because it's al Jazeera, and the writers are not
all hacks.

8. I notice they use "anti-US fighters" in this story too.
A mind-bogglingly accurate description.

5. Ungrateful swine! After all we've done for them, they won't allow
the Bush Crime Family to steal their oil. They need more BushAmerican style democracy, then they will allow them to take whatever they want, just like we do over here.

6. No Iraqi oil until we leave
BushCo's effort to coopt the Irqi oil revenue is a flop. Until we are out of there, the pipelines will continue to be blown up. Really now, they are such easy targets and there is no way we have enough cannon fodder/troups to guard the pipelines.

10. I do believe
you are right. The Iraq pipeline has been blown up on a regular basis. I believe the oil pipeline is 900 miles long. All of it is above-ground, so it's very vulnerable.

Iraqi resistance fighters have access to LOTS of explosive material (see: Al Qaqaa weapons dump that the US foolishly left unguarded).

Also, I've read that the US, in its desperate efforts to protect the pipeline, has contracted out the job to Iraqi tribes. They have given certain tribes the job of watching the pipeline. These contracts are jealously guarded and fought over.

The various tribes are not exactly good buddies with each other. In fact, they despise each other and would love to take a little more turf of Neighbor Bin Ali's contract.

I don't necessarily believe that tribal infighting is the cause of the blown up pipelines. I believe they are ALL united in wanting to "cut us off" so to speak. It just goes to show you they can't get anything right, to save their life. Just stupid fools waving dollar bills in peoples' faces. That's whatcha get, RumsFinished.
