P2P case heads for US Supreme Court
BEIJING, March. 29 (Xinhuanet) -- The U.S. Supreme Court will hear a highly anticipated case on Tuesday that could have far-reaching consequences for both copyright holders and the technology industry. MGM Studios vs. Grokster has wound its way through lower courts and a US circuit court of appeals.
In each case, the courts have ruled that P2P services are not responsible for the illegal activities of the people who use them.
Both file-sharing companies contend that P2P (peer-to-peer) networks can be used to share legal content and that they cannot control, and thus are not liable for, any piracy going on. Sharman Networks, owner of Kazaa, has mounted a similar defense in a case brought by the record industry in Australia.

All hell is going to break loose if the U.S. government gets to regulate the internet.

5. Stereotyping like that will get you nowhere.

If your referring to Bush supporting Republicans then you can really only say that if 60% of voters voted and 1/2 of those voted for the Bush cabal then only 30% of the population is a couple of cans short of a 6pack. And really most of they aren't that brain dead either they are at the root of it, part uneducated, part racist, part greedy, part religious extremists.

"Nothing will happen no matter what." kinda conflicts with your signature don't you think

And actually something has happened in relations to this case. It has been ruled in several courts that P2P services are NOT responsible for illegal activities.

4. Government will always be two steps behind the p2p'ers
File sharing has enough savvy adherents to innovate around any effort at regulation.
