Guards, Father Charged in Alleged "scared Straight" Abuse in Pennsylvania

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Five guards at a juvenile detention center abused a 13-year-old boy and forced him to strip in a supposed "scared straight" attempt, authorities charged.
Anthony Donald Jr. told police his father took him to the Shuman Juvenile Detention Center after he got in trouble at school.

During the hour-long visit Sunday, a guard pulled off the youth's pants, bruised his chest, choked him and ordered him to clean a sink and toilet, the younger Donald said.

The guards were suspended indefinitely and charged with false imprisonment, simple assault and other charges, while Anthony Donald Sr. was charged with conspiracy, authorities said.
