Washington, DC, Mar. 31 (UPI) -- Former Talon News White House correspondent J.D. Guckert reportedly is implicated in falsely registering a political organization as a non-profit.

The Weblog dailyKos.com reported Thursday that Guckert, aka Jeff Gannon, who quit his job for the online publisher Talon News after media reports tied him to gay online prostitution and Republican Party operatives, was registered as the executive director of an organization called the Free Speech Foundation.

The Free Speech Foundation was registered as a tax-exempt non-profit with the U.S. Internal Revenue Service under code 501(c)(3), which prohibits the organizations from participating in or funding political activities.

Despite this, dailyKos.com charged, the organization was used to fundraise for a pro-Bush Web site, ProBush.com, that was facing a $5 million libel suit for naming an Arab-American senator on its ongoing "Traitor List."

Here's a recent Gannon interview done by email and posted at LifeLike Pundits that I stumbled upon via Americablog. I don't think it's the story that many of us were interested and discussing a couple of days ago. However, this interview is an interesting read regardless because it's simply amazing how Gannon twists the facts around...maybe someday we'll understand and know his motives...

I hope there isn't any monkey business going on here. Nothing would make Gannon happier than to be able to accuse Kos of printing a false story.

As I read the Washington Times article, they are reporting a story that originated at dKos. They also include a quote from "Guckert" (note: he is quoted as "Guckert" not "Gannon").

Check these two items:



The folk who originated the report at dKos hopefully have all their factlets well documented and consulted with their legal adviser(s) before publishing their investigative report. One reason why the WT might be "carrying" the story is to ensure wide distribution (perhaps as part of a cooperative effort with g/g/g/????) -- get my drift.
