Social Security reform is taking center stage as President Bush barnstorms the nation. As News 3's Alex Savidge reports, today the president sent a top member of the Labor Department to Las Vegas to sell his plan.
Touting the President's proposal for private investment accounts, Deputy Secretary of Labor Steven Law talked to dozens of people this morning at a Henderson Golf Club, everyone from business owners to business students like Andrew Baca. He's a sophomore at UNLV, and worried about money being there when he retires. "This is my issue. I hope to maximize the return on what I put into Social Security."
This town hall style meeting was part of the Bush administration's "60 Stops in 60 Days" tour across the country, a way to build support for the President's private accounts plan. "We think it's really important to talk to Americans to get their views and let them know the facts."
