Union Reaches Agreement With Four Nursing Homes (CT / 1199)
POSTED: 3:34 pm EST April 1, 2005
UPDATED: 3:41 pm EST April 1, 2005

HARTFORD, Conn. -- <snip> The agreement, reached early Friday, calls for a four year contact and wage increases averaging 16 percent over the life of the contract, the New England Health Care Employees Union, District 1199, announced.

Earlier this week, workers at the four homes as well as eight owned by ICARE Management had authorized the union to call a strike.

The nursing homes owned by Spectrum are located in Ansonia, Derby, Hartford and Winsted employ 318 union workers.

The new agreement, in addition to wage increases, calls for health insurance to be paid for fully by the company. <snip>
