Syria to withdraw from Lebanon by April 30

Big News Network.com Sunday 3rd April, 2005 (UPI)

Syria, which said it would leave Lebanon in May, now says it will withdraw all troops by April 30, according to the U.N. envoy for the Middle East.

U.N. envoy Terje Roed-Larsen met Sunday with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and Foreign Minister Farouq al-Shara in Damascus and later announced the pull-out date to reporters, the BBC said.

Roed-Larsen said Shara told him, All Syrian troops, military assets and the intelligence apparatus will have been withdrawn fully and completely at the latest by April 30, 2005.
