Royal wedding postponed for Pope
(mods: since this directly, and definitely, contradicts the ealrier headline, I though this deserved its own thread)

The Prince of Wales' wedding to Camilla Parker Bowles has been postponed until Saturday due to a clash with the Pope's funeral in Rome.

Announcing the change, Clarence House said Prince Charles would be attending the funeral mass in Rome on Friday.

It said the postponement was "a mark of respect" for the pontiff.

4. That romance seems to be born under a bad sign
Momma Queen probably insisted he postpone his wedding. Charles is the most hen-pecked man in the world.

6. Since he is the heir to the throne
and the future head of the church of England...as his mother currently is...it's rather important he be at the funeral.

5. Also, the fact that the wedding "blesser"
The Archbishop of Canterbury, along with half the guests (the Blairs, eg) were going to Rome. Bad karma to push ahead. Better to wait, people will be ready for a party a bit later....

7. Royal invite for tiffin carriers
BBC

Two of the famous lunch-box, or tiffin, carriers from the Indian city of Mumbai (Bombay) have been invited to Prince Charles' wedding on Saturday.

Raghunath Medge and Sopan Mare are two of the dabbawallahs who pooled money a few weeks ago to send Charles and wife-to-be Camilla Parker Bowles gifts.

Prince Charles met the tiffin carriers on his trip to India two years ago.

Mumbai has an estimated 5,000 tiffin carriers delivering about 175,000 lunch boxes daily in a century-old tradition.

8. You Know It Would Have Been Really Classy....
to marry quietly, without the Archbishop etc etc under the cover of the hoopla over the Pope's funeral. It would have shown that this was a real marriage, not a State event, as well as a good way to frustrate the paparazzi, if one held them in the contempt one has stated.

But let's not ask for miracles. The hasn't been any class in this corner since Diana threw in the towel.

12. not classy at all
Like saying it would have been classy for a president's daughter to get married the week before Reagan's funeral.

Prince Charles has responsibilities - and attending state funerals is one of them.

If you think the press has been giving them a hard time already - they would have had a field-day with that kind of display of disrespect and selfishness. Paparazzi or no.

I think he should have married Camilla a long time ago and I'm glad they're finally getting their chance.

16. i find this hilarious
Once upon a time, an english king ditched the catholic church and stuck it to the pope so he could escape catholic doctrine and marry as he saw fit.

Hundreds of years later, an english royal has to postpone his wedding for the death of pontiff which his family eschewed centuries ago.

I mean, what good is starting your own religion and sticking it to the pope so you can marry, if you cant stick it to the pope and get married on Friday, if you damn well please...

hee hee hee
