Groups Call For Taser Ban (GA)

Civil rights groups met Sunday and called for an end to the use of Taser guns in Gwinnett County, where two inmates have died in the past 18 months after being subdued with the stun weapons.

Ray Charles Allen died in September 2003 after being shot with a Taser.

Frederick Williams died in May 2004, two days after being subdued with a Taser during a scuffle with deputies at the jail.

"If we don't bring awareness, more and more people will die," said William Harris, Williams' pastor. "He didn't have to be killed in such a way. There were other ways that he could be restrained."
