Four U.S. soldiers killed in clashes in Iraq
Four U.S. soldiers killed in clashes in Iraq; videos posted on Internet claim killing of Iraqi soldier, alleged informer;
By Antonio Castaneda, Associated Press, 4/5/2005 10:56

BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) Four U.S. troops were killed in clashes and bombings across Iraq, the U.S. military said Tuesday, and videos posted on the Internet showed militants purportedly beheading an Iraqi soldier and killing a reported informer.

A joint U.S.-Iraqi attack on dozens of insurgents in eastern Diyala province on Monday left two American soldiers and one Iraqi soldier dead, U.S. military spokesman said. Two U.S. soldiers were also wounded in the attack, which continued into Tuesday.

In Baghdad's southern Dora neighborhood, an abandoned taxi exploded on an expressway near a U.S. patrol on Tuesday, killing another U.S. soldier and wounding four others, said Sgt. 1st Class David Abrams, a spokesman for Task Force Baghdad.

At least 1,537 members of the U.S. military have died since the beginning of the Iraq war in March 2003, according to an Associated Press count.

2. Damn! I had hoped the death rate was dropping...
The graph was flattening out of late.

We need to get out of there now.

6. News control is so tight in Iraq now, who knows what is happening
I guess if you shoot enough reporters you can keep a lid on reports, for the most part. Plus, all the media attention is so focused on the pope that nothing else can get through. Not that the media wants anything else to get through.

16. "Some things are going pretty well over there."
Shows us just how callous many in the MSM are towards the death of our young men and women in uniform. And all the Iraqis killed in the past month? Ah, forget 'bout it.

Shieffer-the-shit-shill.

Say the above ten times fast.

8. Now what about the 18 - 20 casualties
in Abu Ghraib prison over the weekend? What happened to them. Were they only wounded, or did they die?

We need to assemble a list of all the casualties in Iraq and Afghanistan. I have a strange feeling it will be more than 1537+.

13. If there were any deaths in that fight.
They'll leak them out over the next few days, in small incidents like what we see today.

14. Yep. Most of them just skinned their knees up a little bit
Its a very common injury in a war zone I have been told.

they revised the number on Sunday. We still don't know if any were deaths. And their number of dead in the article is wrong. 1542, that we know for sure. God this war sucks... :(

20. Things are getting hot again
Seems like the wars on again, though it never stops, they just stop reporting. Icasulaties has the kia for americands at 1542 now, it was 1540 when I looked this morning.
Taking the combined casualty of kia and wia unable to return to duty, we've lost over a division now, plus the equipment.
What a fucking waste.
