Secret Service protects expectant duck
http://www.cnn.com/2005/US/04/08/treasury.duck.ap/index.html

The Secret Service, which has the job of guarding the president and other dignitaries, now has a new temporary duty -- protecting a mother duck and her nine eggs.

The duck, a brown mallard with white markings, has had several names suggested by Treasury Department people, including "Quacks Reform," "T-Bill," and "Duck Cheney." It has built a nest in a mulch pile right at the main entrance to the Treasury Department on Pennsylvania Avenue.

The Secret Service's uniformed division, which provides protection for the White House and Treasury building, has set up metal guard rails to protect the nest, which has attracted the notice of tourists on their way to see the White House.

The duck has been provided with a water bowl and seems oblivious to all the attention, sitting calmly on its nest on top of the mulch pile that surrounds one of the new trees planted along Pennsylvania Avenue as part of a renovation project.

6. I am shocked, I tell you, SHOCKED,
that this administration is wasting tax dollars that could be going to more deserving billionaires to support this slut of a duck bearing NINE children out of wedlock. I suppose she'll line up for her welfare check as soon as they are born.

What is this country coming to?

3 U.S. agents idled in probe

Was the trio partying with underage girls?

Associated Press

PROVO — What began as a noise disturbance complaint at a Utah County motel earlier this month may land three U.S. Secret Service agents in criminal court on allegations of misconduct involving a party with underage girls and alcohol.

Provo police and the Secret Service confirmed Thursday night that three out-of-state agents have been placed on administrative leave pending a criminal investigation.

According to Mike Mower, assistant to the Provo mayor, police received a disturbance complaint during the early hours of Feb. 1 at the Western Inn motel, 40 W. 300 South, Provo.

Police arrived and handled the disturbance. But it wasn't until five days later that police realized with whom they were dealing.

19. The real problem is after the ducklings are born.

If there are any sea gulls in the vicinity, they'll eat the baby ducklings. But don't count on there being any protection after the eggs hatch. Life begins at conception and ends at birth for this administration.

21. The real function of this widdle cute ducklin' story...
...is to spread good news and cheer, to humanize the Secret Service, and by extension, our government.

CNN has the resources to tell lucky ducky stories, obviously, but not to ask meaningful questions.

And if that doesn't strike you as wrong during a time of illegal war, rising theocracy, brutal economic policies, and people ejected for no reason (see DemocracyNow.org today) from the prez's Town Hall meetings, then you aren't paying attention.
