U-M lecturers' union rejects call for strike
Lecturers and adjunct faculty at the University of Michigan have rejected a call for strike over a contract dispute.

Members of the 1,400-member Lecturers Employee Organization on the U-M campuses at Ann Arbor, Dearborn and Flint completed their voting Wednesday and Thursday. <snip>

A planning committee was to start meeting today to chart other ways of expressing the union's dissatisfaction, she said, including a sit-in at administrative offices or picketing during the April 30 commencement.

Halloran said U-M has not made sufficient progress in implementing the terms of its first contract with the union. The union ratified the contract in June. <snip>
