Senator backing marriage amendment getting divorce
Edited on Thu Apr-14-05 08:00 PM by jefferson_dem
More abject hypocrisy from the fundie "family values" crowd...:puke:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A state senator sponsoring a constitutional amendment aimed at "solemnizing the relationship of one man and one woman" is accused in a divorce case of cheating on his wife.

State Sen. Jeff Miller, a Republican from Cleveland, is accused of "inappropriate marital conduct" in a divorce complaint filed Feb. 25 in Bradley County.

The senator's March 2 answer to the complaint "vehemently denies" any inappropriate marital conduct.

"He is very hypocritical, fighting for the sanctity of marriage and not keeping his own," the senator's wife of 15 years, Bridgitte Suzanne Miller, said in a report in the Chattanooga Times Free Press.

8. so in other words he's screwing someone else while
married thereby desanctifying his current marriage but he's teeing up his next wife and that will be sanctified until he repeats the cycle again but in the meantime no marriage for gay people because they'll most likely end up with a lower divorce rate making him look even worse.

9. Sanctimony=Republican definition of Matrimony.
The more vehemently denies any inappropriate conduct, the more likely it is that it happened.

so this story can be sent to The Daily Show and Countdown - I'd really hate for them not to see this. (Maybe TDS could send Samantha Bee to interview the senator.)

21. It Gets BETTER!
In addition, while pushing the marriage act through the Senate last year, Miller openly opposed an amendment sponsored by state Sen. Steve Cohen that would have included an “adultery clause.”

Cohen’s amendment, which failed, stated: “Adultery is deemed to be a threat to the institution of marriage and contrary to public policy in Tennessee.”

Prior to the passage of the amendment last year The City Paper learned Miller’s brother and Nashville resident Gregg Miller was openly gay.

16. oh no, i am so shocked, it must be lies
:sarcasm: I am sure the Democrats are responsible for this trumped up story. I'm sure Sen. Miller, who is acting as his own attorney (apparently not a good one since he got nailed with paying $3000 monthly child support) is just another poor GOP victim of "personal attacks" by the mean ole' liberals.
