Democrats Trumping Up Charges on Bolton - W.House
snip>
"I think what you have are Democratic members of the committee who continue to bring up unsubstantiated accusations. These allegations are unfounded," said White House spokesman Scott McClellan.

McClellan singled out Sen. Joseph Biden of Delaware, the committee's top Democrat, for bringing up the allegations, which he said Bolton had already answered in hours of congressional testimony.
...
"Democrats continue to bring these accusations up and trump them up and make unfounded allegations, and we need to get John Bolton to the United Nations because this is an important position. We need to get him there sooner rather than later," McClellan said.
...
Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid of Nevada has said Democrats were considering filibustering the nomination, which would require a 60-vote majority nearly impossible to attain in the divided chamber.

18. It would be appropriate...
Then let's see if Frist boy sticks to his word and won't go nuclear for legislative filibusters.

2. That's called projection.
Repukes constantly and consistently lie and make 'unfounded allegations' against Democrats, so naturally they accuse Democrats of doing the same thing. Even though it's a lie.

6. But "he already answered" the allegations!
He "already answered" them, people, what's the problem?

If he "answers" an allegation then we have to drop it! Don't you know that?

12. Some things have been brought out since he appeared
I noticed that in the threads yesterday but I don't recall which ones.

Bolton couldn't have answered any questions about those. Scottie's *gasp* obfuscating!

8. Distortion
The Democrats on the committee are outnumbered by the Republicans. If the Republicans had all been convinced that the charges were not worthy of further investigation, then Bolton would have been approved.

Why isn't McClellan complaining about the Repubs not standing firm? (The reason they didn't was because Bolton is rotten to the core and some Repubs couldn't stomach him.)

28. Quite! And they said that Democrats were whining when Gore "lost"
And we happened to mention that the vote appeared to be incorrectly tallied.

Whine back at them.

No, they'll never stop. What did Gingrich teach? Always stay on topic no matter what? Sorry, my link to his teachings for young republicans is on another computer.

... of what allegations are "unfounded"? Did you do the research, did you check out all the leads?

If not then STFU. Let the process do it's job.

16. An unfounded allegation of unsubstantiated accusations.
Edited on Wed Apr-20-05 11:31 AM by TahitiNut
The Evil Empire, showing allegiance to the Lord of Lies, just loves to lie. Ain't nothing better than making an outright unfounded allegation of unfounded allegations. Then, if this is pointed out, they'll obsessively make an unfounded allegation of unfounded allegations of unfounded allegations of unfounded allegations. Lies compounded without end.

Spawned in the Nest of Liars they obsessively construct nests of lies.

20. Is Rice Obstructing the Bolton Investigation
A very serious allegation buried in a story in today’s Washington Post:

On Monday, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice told her senior staff she was disappointed about the stream of allegations and said she did not want any information coming out of the department that could adversely affect the nomination, said officials speaking on the condition of anonymity.

The committee released 25 pages of responses yesterday to follow-up questions Bolton had been asked concerning allegations he was abusive to other officials in and out of the State Department, overreached on policy issues and mishandled intelligence. In several instances, Bolton did not directly respond to the questions or left them unaddressed.

based on what Biden said about what corroboration they've gotten (reluctantly) so far. Everything they have checked points to the fact that he lied about his punitive actions under oath. I pray they get to bring him back and corner the scum.
