Church tightens security for event (for telecast on judicial dispute)
Organizers are limiting access and increasing security because of immense interest in a conservative Christian national telecast to be held Sunday in Louisville.

Tickets now are required for the once-free telecast organized to oppose what a promotional flier called Senate Democrats blocking "people of faith and moral conviction" from being confirmed as federal judges.
.....
The telecast was organized by the Family Research Council, based in Washington, D.C. Ezell said there were concerns protesters might disrupt the telecast from inside the sanctuary.

He said the church has been inundated with requests to attend from the general public and also has received e-mails and voice mails "from all over the country" from people opposed to the telecast. As a result, he said, security has been increased, but he declined to say in what ways.
.....
Today, however, the National Council of Churches will sponsor a conference call with journalists to denounce Frist's participation in the telecast...."Elected officials should not be portraying public policies as being for or against people of faith,"....

1. So much for their "faith" in God
Once again the hypocrites show their true colors, they have more faith in security guards then they do in God to protect them.

Then again, maybe they realize that God, may not be on their side after all!

23. I went to a funeral yesterday for a popular person in Birmingham
Alabama. I was shocked to see a tactical policeman, heavily armed, standing at parade-rest in the door to the church as the mourners entered the auditorium. What possible need could there be to have an armed tactical squad member guarding the door? Any ideas?

2. Maybe it's a good day to run that UCC commercial again, where they
have guards at the doors of the church - saying who would get in and who wasn't acceptable.

3. Physical protests
These people make money from suing over any
physical contact...stay on public land, do
not participate in any physical protest.
Use cameras to document. Dress in business
clothing. Write short bold statements on signage.
Smile. If you are clergy, wear your collars.
Have fliers with information. Put on cars.
Sing America the Beautiful.

We are a democracy, not a theocracy.

8. To any protestors who plan on attending:
Thank you. Please be very careful. You may want to check if they have any lions ready to unleash.

12. And may I add...
despite the temptation, be civil in your protest. Do not stoop to their level of gross behavior.

Stay safe!

5. Let them have their freak show.
Let the American people see the fundie nutballs rant and rave about subverting the constitution up close and personal. The more these whackos are out in the open and on TV, the better it is for us. We need to be the voice of reason here, not the wild-eyed anti-christian protesters.

10. I agree.
I'm hoping a posture of civility and rationalism will by comparison make them look even freakier to the moderates.

29. That's not what it's about
These fanatics are only concerned with power and the ability to control people's lives.

They don't want judges who abide by the law, they want judges who will try to make Biblical law the law of this country, they want a
Theocracy.

Not sure about anyone else here, but before I allow this to happen, it's going to cost them, and I don't mean in dollars.

9. Good for the NCC.
Elected officials should not be portraying public policies as being for or against people of faith Especially when "people of faith" has such a perverted meaning.

16. Thanks, I doubt I will go anywhere for this, but check this out
While I was there I happened to come across their Top Ten Legislative Priorities for 2005. Like:

Unborn Child Pain Awareness Act
U.S. Constitutional Amendment to Protect Marriage
Child Custody Protection Act
Cloning Prohibition Act
De-Funding Planned Parenthood
Judges
Limiting Court Jurisdiction
House of Worship Free Speech Restoration Act
Family Tax Issues
Indecency and Enforcement Reform

You can check out their legislative overview's at https://www.frc.org/get.cfm?i=PK05A01

I will have to read through them, but it looks like their roadmap for the theocracy they want to implement.

18. The FRC is everything that's wrong with Fund-A-Mental Christianity
I really don't remember Jesus teaching about their methods in the Bible.

I think I need a new Bible. Mine seems to be defective.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that it's been the right-wing "Christian" idiots who have been espousing violence lately.

20. Suggestion for protestors
Dress professionally

Use biblical quotes against them such as - Render unto God what is God's, render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's.
