S.C. Lawmakers' Remarks Lead to Uproar

"And they wonder why we rank in the bottom on women in office and we lead in women getting killed by men," Rep. Gilda Cobb-Hunter, a Democrat who sponsored the bill, said. House leaders said they plan to reintroduce the bill.

At Tuesday's meeting, according to the newspaper account, Rep. John Graham Altman asked why the bill's title "Protect Our Women in Every Relationship (POWER)" just mentioned protecting women.

Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Harrison suggested calling the bill the "Protecting Our People in Every Relationship Act," or "POPER," the newspaper reported.

A voice on the tape is heard pronouncing it "Pop her." Then another says "Pop her again," followed by laughter.

"I do not understand why women continue to go back around men who abuse them," Altman told WIS-TV later. "I mean, you women want it one way and not another," he told the female reporter.

1. I wonder what a stout fence the length of the
Mason-Dixon line would have cost in 1860's dollars compared to the cost of the Civil War?

2. John Graham Altman is slime.
He was head of the school board in Charleston County for quite some time. Cut music and art programs calling them 'sing alongs and finger painting'. When notified of a severe asbestos problem in one of the schools, his solution was 'tell the kids not to touch the ceilings'. (Of course that school wasn't in the district he was elected from...HIS district got a whole brand new school when the old was less than 15 years old and the ones that he refused to let be renovated were 50 at the youngest)

He's racist, sexist and just plain slime.

3. It's hard for these people to pay attend their jobs seriously
without trying to draw attention to themselves. They imagine there's actually someone who gives a flying #### about their views.

A quick google run indicates he has established a high profile in supporting cockfighting, and fighting gays, himself being twice divorced apparently imagines he has blazed a trail to marital perfection.

Which one is John Graham Altman III?

5. PEE-YOU!!!
Saw this whole clip on Olbermann last night. This guy needs to be neutered. Without anesthesia.
He kept telling the lady reporter that she was pretty, but stupid, for asking him why he wanted to protect roosters, but not battered women. She stayed calm and professional thruout. I would have had to make him eat the microphone.

6. Altman demonstrated that he is nothing more than a second-rate...
Strom Thurmond. Talk about falling short of a dubious goal!

7. SOP in SC
I've only been living here for less than a year, and this state amazes me every day. It's sexist, racist and crawling with freeper types.
