Nine of 10 consumers environment-conscious
http://feeds.bignewsnetwork.com/?sid=c58f6256a3d14f80

Big News Network.com Friday 22nd April, 2005 (UPI)

A survey by Consumer Reports of New York shows that 9 of 10 respondents consider environmental and health factors when making purchases.

The survey was released concurrently with Earth Day and the rollout of a new Consumer Reports Web site, GreenerChoices.org. The Web site will help consumers choose environmentally friendly products, Consumer Reports said.

While only 5 percent of respondents to the poll consider themselves environmental activists, nearly 9 out of 10 consider environmental and health factors when making purchases. Forty-three percent said they would be willing to pay more for electricity generated from environmentally friendly sources like solar and wind power, while almost 7 out of 10 would be willing to pay an additional cost to recycle items like TVs and computers.

What this says to us is that not only do consumers care, but they're willing to put their money where their mouth is, said Urvashi Rangan, an environmental health scientist and director of GreenerChoices.org.

of idiot would vote Repuke if the above survey is correct? Could the actual vote counts be 65-70% Gore and Kerry but the DOD, CIA, FBI are modifying the results?

One thing I'm sure of. By wide margin, Democratic supporters are much more educated than Repukes. This I'm sure of. I'm also sure that more educated people live near the larger cities. All larger cities vote Dem thus adding proof to my claim. There you have most of the money being made in the country near larger cities. Therefore Dems. pay more taxes and the sleazes Repukes in the South and other rual Redneck areas are living off the prosperity of the Dems.

5. Take these results with a grain of salt, because while I
shopped at Whole Foods today, I couldn't help but notice the very busy parking lot -- full of SVUs!

There is a certain irony there. Eat organic, natural foods, drive gas guzzler.

7. I sort of agree with you. It's what people think they are and not what
they actually are. It shows the American people might really really be uneducated. It's been too long from school. The actual self. The perceived self. The true self. The way others see you.

20. These are the folks who shop organic for 2 reasons, they think they'll
look younger if they eat healthier, and they can impress all of their friends. It's a fad to them, and when something comes along, they'll jump right to it.

Environmentalists Mull Future of Movement

April 22, 2005 6:40 AM EDT

SAN FRANCISCO - As the world marks the 35th anniversary of Earth Day on Friday, environmentalists are debating the future of a movement that seems to be losing the battle for public opinion.

President Bush's re-election, the failure to slow global warming and the large number of Americans who dismiss them as tree-hugging extremists have environmental leaders looking for new approaches.

And while polls show most Americans want clean air, clean water and wildlife protection, environmental issues rank low on their list of priorities - behind jobs, health care, education and national security.

14. And just how did jobs, health care, education and national security
become top priorities? Gee, you don't suppose the mal-admin of this nation had anything to do with it, do you?

If I remember correctly that list of priorities was pretty much reversed when Gore was running. Most Americans were fat and happy, not pre-occupied with jobs, health care, education and national security so they could focus on clean air, clean water and wildlife protection.

How could big oil ever pass the energy bill in such an environment? They couldn't, so it was time to change the focus. Seems 9/11, Medicare reform and No Child Left Behind were all a huge success after-all.

See, it's just a matter of perspective.

10. Just remember, boys and girls . . .
Americans will do whatever it takes to protect the environment, just so long as it doesn't cost them any money, or doesn't inconvenience them in any way or doesn't impinge on their precious "lifestyle" to any measurable degree.

17. Too bad when they become voters they forget all about it.
Everybody pays lip service to the environment. Most of them are lying weasels. I can't tell you how many Repukes I've spoken with over the years who claim to be really concerned with the environment. Then they vote for a Reagan or a Bush.

18. What percentage of private vehicles on the road are SUV's?
Maybe I should make that ALL vehicles, since all you have to do is vinyl your company name on the side window of that penis augmentor and collect up to $100,000 from Dumbya in tax credits because it's now your "Business Vehicle"...

Yeah, like "Mary Ann's Home Sex Toys Parties, Inc." really needs a H-2 to deliver dildos with.

19. 90% my ass
Based on last year's elections, at least 20% of Americans don't give a crap about the environment, because they voted for Bush.
