House GOP Doesn't Plan Probe of Judges
House GOP Doesn't Plan Probe of Judges

By JESSE J. HOLLAND
The Associated Press
Monday, April 25, 2005; 3:41 PM

WASHINGTON -- House Republicans say they haven't opened and don't plan any new investigations of federal judges after Terri Schiavo's death despite Majority Leader Tom DeLay's promise to examine the judiciary's conduct.

Some of the issues raised by DeLay were being examined by Judiciary Committee Chairman James Sensenbrenner, R-Wis., before the embattled Texas Republican's recent barrage against federal judges over their handling of Schiavo's case.

The panel held a hearing last year on the issue of federal judges citing foreign law in their decisions. That came after legislation to prohibit the practice was filed. The bill never came to a vote but has been reintroduced this year.

DeLay, now involved in an ethics controversy over the source of funding for some of his foreign travels, escalated his attacks on the judiciary after Schiavo's death March 31.

Au contraire . . . lettem, I say. Indeed. Let the Republican religion-into-law off-the-wall radicals make total and complete asses of themselves in front of the entire country, let the C-Span cameras and mikes flow. We want the entire country to see them ("our laws are derived from God") make more Terri Schiavo mistakes!

It may be what the country needs. An up yers and in yer face circus of more Terri Schiavo religion-into-law rightwingnut freak-os in their living rooms and having the talking heads fuse it further into their heads.

THE RIGHTWINGERS ARE C-R-A-Z-Y!

And it's time for a house-cleaning, a total sweep of these idiots out of office.

. .
BTW, is Scalia auditioning for the job as Chief Justice?

7. I stole it so go ahead
Heard it on the ESPN draft coverage yesterday and I shouted "BRILLIANT" when one of the commentaters said it. You see because of the whorish, piece of shit media we have in the United States all the good journalist either work in PR or sports broadcasting or sports writing.

and the GOP is going to blink.

I have not seen or heard anything about any polls, but something tells me they have some internal polling data that is not looking good for them. I was extremely surprised by how toned down Sen. Frist remarks for "Just Us Sunday" were.

their religious right constituency and keep the country divided over divisive issues. Frist too. He plans a run for president. Of course it doesn't mean they aren't planning to attack the courts at some point...but for now this is simply the introduction to a theme they will reintroduce later. Just keeping their pots stirred.

12. I think it is backfiring with the fundies AND the conservatives
I think the fundies want action, not talk...the way they wanted Jeb to have the National Guard storm the hospice over the Schiavo case.

And the conservatives are worried about all the rhetoric, even without the action it shows how extreme some of them are being.

I like to think of it as a Lose-Lose situation for them. And they're stuck right in the muck :)

10. mainstream American values?
"When we think judicial decisions are outside mainstream American values, we will say so. But we must also be clear that the balance of power among all three branches requires respect - not retaliation," Frist said Sunday.

Bill, you and your RW fundie masters wouldn't know a "mainstream" American value if it came up and bit you in your hypocritical ass....
