U.S. Weapons Inspector Finishes Iraq Work
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

Filed at 7:21 p.m. ET

WASHINGTON (AP) -- In his final report, the CIA's top weapons inspector in Iraq said Monday that the hunt for weapons of mass destruction has gone ''as far as feasible'' and has found nothing, closing an 18-month investigation into the purported programs of Saddam Hussein that were used to justify the 2003 invasion.

''As matters now stand, the WMD investigation has gone as far as feasible,'' wrote Charles Duelfer, who led the Iraq Survey Group. ''After more than 18 months, the WMD investigation and debriefing of the WMD-related detainees has been exhausted.''

In 92 pages posted online Monday evening, Duelfer provided a final supplement to a roughly 1,000-page report released last fall.

3. Whats the point? They simply claim that they somehow moved
everything to Syria. The entire war/enterprise is a horrible nightmare that was foisted on a 9/11- traumatized public. It seems he missed his chance to do the Social Security thing at that time too.

10. Actually - The Article Says There Is No Evidence To Support
That claim.

Snip .....

Among unanswered questions, Duelfer said a group formed to investigate whether WMD-related material was shipped out of Iraq before the invasion wasn't able to reach firm conclusions because the security situation limited and later halted their work. Investigators were focusing on transfers from Iraq to Syria.

No information gleaned from questioning Iraqis supported the possibility, one addendum said. The Iraq Survey Group believes ''it was unlikely that an official transfer of WMD material from Iraq to Syria took place. However, ISG was unable to rule out unofficial movement of limited WMD-related materials.''

They will NEVER give this up, in the same way the claim is made that the US could have "won" in Vietnam if it hadn't have been for the protesters.

5. But what about all those shiploads of weapons. . .
Saddam was loading up and sending out into the Indian Ocean right under the nose of the US Navy?

Does anyone else remember that piece of theater of the absurd? The joke only lasted a couple of days in the MSM, but it certainly got some faux-journalists incensed. I recall a hilarious piece Will Pitt wrote about it where he "did the math" and found it would have taken thousands of trucks hundreds of hours to load those ships. So not only was our inability to "see" the ships absurd on the face of it, our missing the "convoy of portable death" made us appear to be fools of epic magnitude. Maybe that's why the story died such a quick and unlamented death. . .

14. Weapons Inspector Ends WMD Search in Iraq
WASHINGTON - Wrapping up his investigation into Saddam Hussein's purported arsenal, the CIA's top weapons hunter in Iraq said his search for weapons of mass destruction "has been exhausted" without finding any.

Nor did he find any evidence that such weapons were shipped officially from Iraq to Syria to be hidden before the U.S. invasion, but he couldn't rule out some unofficial transfer of limited WMD-related materials.

16. This should be banner headlines - this should stop Congress cold
In a true democracy, this news would create such an uproar that there would be no room for mercy. Congress, with it's Constitutional mandate to declare and wage wars, should frankly be disbanded for abdicating their duty. Bush* should be impeached at the very least, as well as Cheany, for failing to pursue all answers and remedies before waging war.

In a true democracy, the 4th estate would be up in arms over this reality...especially after having so pointedly defended Bush* and Cheany in their cause celebre for the war in Iraq.

But, we lost our democracy in 2000. It was a tragic day, indeed. Americans who are alive today will spend the rest of their lives dealing with the repricutions from the hubris of the new american government. And, if the US is ever to be a democracy again, it will only be because of an uprising from her own people. Sadly, there is no current hope for such an occasion in the foreseeable future.

Still, I lived in the greatest Democracy that ever was! And, if I ever get the chance, I'll happily give all my efforts for her return!

19. I rated this story
A 5. With its current rating of 2.86, it would appear that others don't want this story on the front page.
This is the trifecta report, the UN, the Army and now the CIA.
Are we waiting on another report, from another agency?

We were lied to, and many just don't care.

20. So we could have let this guy search for WMD for two years, or
"we" could have just marched into a virtually unarmed country and stuck the National Gonads into a hornets' nest.

Congre$$ could have exercised its Constitutional powers, or it could have handed them over to an unelected DESERTER under the guise of "supporting the president in the war on Terra."

Almost 1600 American service personnel are dead (that we know of), there may be over 100,000 Iraqis dead, their country is in a shambles, our economy is in a shambles and there is not a tunnel in sight--much less a light at the end of it.

All this and the search for weapons of mass destruction has been exhausted WITHOUT FINDING ANY. How many DUers knew there were no WMD in a country that had been, shall we say, under Aerial Occupation for twelve years? How many of us saw right through bu$hler's plan and tried to tell our Congre$$ member$ to yank his chain before it was too late? Yet our Lemmings elbowed each other out of the way to get to that cliff!

Do we now need any more proof that all three branches of our Government have been sold out? I don't think so. There are AT LEAST 535 people in Washington who belong in prison for War Crimes.

21. Whether it's deliberate or a mistake this war has cost ...
the American tax payer 300 Billion and there's no end in sight. If we lived in a non-partisan society the person responsible would be forced to resign. Now I know there's no way that's ever going to happen but shouldn't the Democrats be shouting "RESIGN" from the top of their lungs anyway?
