Blair forced on to defensive over Iraq
http://www.nzherald.co.nz/index.cfm?c_id=2&ObjectID=10122388

Tony Blair was forced on to the defensive over Iraq yesterday as he angrily refused to apologise for the war and appealed to his critics to stop questioning his integrity.

Labour's plan to ensure the final full week of the election campaign be dominated by the economy and education was scuppered when the Prime Minister faced tough questions over the fresh doubts about the legality of the conflict.

"I know there's a disagreement over Iraq. That disagreement we will never resolve, but I also know it's right to look to the future now," he told a press conference.
"Let's stop having this argument about whether it's my character or my integrity that's at issue here and understand the decision had to be taken."

<snip>

Mr Blair said of his decision to go to war: "I can't say I am sorry about it. I am not sorry about it. I think I did the right thing."

:argh: go away you nasty piece of poodle shit!

1. This was on BBC World..
.. yesterday evening.

Blair looked rather frazzled and maniacal about the whole thing... desperate even. Good.

2. IOW. Forget about it. Leave me alone about it. Let's not examine
the mistakes and the lies...let's just look ahead. Put all that nastiness behind us. Suck it up. I'm not taking responsibility. It's too late anyway. Nothing anyone can do to change it. Yeah, so....people are dead. I can't bring them back so let's just move forward. Yeah, people are still dying...but that's not my fault either. It's the future we must rush toward without ever looking at what got us in this mess to begin with...go away...leave me alone.

I'm not a bad person because I went to war based on lies and trumped up evidence. Lies I promoted and spread...how could that possibly speak to my character or my integrity? You will respect my authority! Stop picking on me! Saddam was bad so the lies don't matter.

Sounds like the Texas two-step to me,Mr. Blair.

3. I heard some of this on BBC and it's getting to
the point where I want to say to Tony, "Please stop lying to us now. I don't care how many times you say the world is safer with Saddam behind bars, it doesn't change the fact you and * collaborated on a scheme to indulge your egos.......and cost the lives of thousands of people. 'Fess up now and admit you lied........"

4. Tories Launch Anti-Blair Poster Broadside on Iraq
Conservatives today put the issue of Iraq at the centre of their General Election campaign, launching a poster accusing Prime Minister Tony Blair of lying to take Britain into war. The move came after the head of the Iraq Survey Group finally confirmed that their hunt for weapons of mass destruction was over.Saddam Hussein’s supposed possession of a WMD arsenal was the official justification for the 2003 war.

former Foreign Secretary Robin Cook declaring that the Government’s justification for keeping the opinion secret “will not wash”.

Shadow foreign secretary Michael Ancram said that Mr Duelfer’s comments meant that Mr Blair’s claims in the run-up to the 2003 war had now been proved to be false. “Mr Blair has said that it is for the voters to make a judgment on his trustworthiness at this election,” said Mr Ancram. “He told the country that it was ‘beyond doubt’ that Iraq ‘continued to produce chemical and biological weapons’. Mr Blair told the Commons that the picture painted by the intelligence services on Iraq’s WMD was ‘extensive, detailed and authoritative’. “Those claims have now been found to be false.

“The challenge for Mr Blair is to produce the evidence, including publishing in full the legal advice that was given by the Attorney General, so that voters can reach their own judgment on whether he misled the British public or not.”

6. Warmongering Tories. They HELPED Blair. They voted to keep Blair as PM
Edited on Tue Apr-26-05 10:56 PM by w4rma
Without Tory votes Blair would not be in the position of power he is today. Tories are MUCH more corrupt than Blair's admin.

Vote LibDem. They have a very good shot this election and unlike the warmongering Tories, the LibDems have opposed the Bush/Blair Iraq agenda from the beginnning.
