CIA scandal could divert Rove from re-election campaign
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/afp/20031001/pl_afp/us_iraq_cia_rove_031001192025

WASHINGTON (AFP) - The controversy over accusations that the White House leaked the name of a CIA agent to get at a critic of the US war in Iraq could become a key distraction for President George W. Bush's main strategist Karl Rove.

Rove, the secretive mastermind of many Bush triumphs, has become the target of opposition Democrats in the row just as he puts the finishing touches to his campaign to secure Bush's re-election next year.

Even Joseph Wilson, the former ambassador whose wife was named in the leak as a Central Intelligence Agency operative, says he believes Rove and the White House had been "pushing" the story about his wife.

13. Lie Detector?
Will it be working?

Will it be calibrated?

Will they be asked hard questions or fluff?

Will they be tested or have a proxy?

How many other ways could they rigged the test so that everyone passes or at least prevent a major scandal?

6. remember when dr. doolittle...
went to jail so he could have some time to think?

that's rove's strategy. he's done this on purpose so he'll be able to focus (not unlike a laser beam), from jail, on moron's 2004 election campaign.

what a jeanyus!

7. Whether It's Rove or Someone Else,
the phrase "fair game" should enter the politial vocabulary as the way Wilson's wife was depicted.

To be declared 'fair game' in scientology means that you are to be destroyed by any means necessary. Seems Rove is borrowing a page from L. Ron Hubbard's book of dirty tricks.

10. I don't know
Somehow, I think Rove will be involved in the re-election. Whether he's in the White House or somewhere else his grubby little hands will be in this all the way. Even if he has to work through his attorney.

14. Joe Biden just made liars out of all the Rethug spinners
Joe Biden (on Hardball) JUST stated that Wilson's wife WAS a covert operative until the article was published. So if Biden, who is on the Foreign Relations committee, says it was so, then it is a Federal crime for Novak to out her. He also said there were only a few people who knew this, and it was not common knowledge as Rush and others are trying to portray.

17. I fell out of my rocker when he said that
He also said there were only a FEW PEOPLE IN THE WHITE HOUSE who knew, and that is why the investigation is being focused there.
