Bush defended for not moving on CIA leak
Edited on Wed Oct-01-03 11:20 PM by camcb
WASHINGTON — President Bush didn't pursue the question of who made an illegal disclosure of a CIA agent's identity because it would have been a "severe disservice to the American people" to spend time tracking down a source without apparent ties to the White House, the president's spokesman said Wednesday.

White House press secretary Scott McClellan defended Bush's decision in July to await the outcome of a routine procedure that required the CIA to formally request a Justice Department investigation into unauthorized disclosures of secret information.

On Monday, the Justice Department responded to a CIA request initiated in July and launched a criminal investigation into whether Bush administration officials leaked the identify of undercover CIA officer Valerie Plame.

3. SO let me get this straight
Persons in the highest levels of his administration compromise the cover of a CIA operative, thereby committing a felonious act, but he thinks it would have been a disservice to the American people not to track the perpetrators down???? Talk about turning reality upside down. The disservice was done by willfully ignoring the matter and letting his underlings go on their merry campaign of political witch hunting with his tacit approval or utter lack of concern or attention paid to their activities and then the disservice was compunded when he did not summarily boot their sorry asses out and refer them for prosecution himself. Highest standards of integrity my ass.

.........How do people like McClellan live with themselves spouting this trash? Do they delude themselves into believing that its true or have they so conditioned themselves to suspend the rational parts of their brain so they can lie automatically without much thought or regard to the momentous illogic of what they are babbling?

Yes,according to Scott we should all feel so much better knowing that they will go to any length to ignore felonies so that they will not do a "disservice" to the American people. Hell they figure why should their valuable "service time" be spent responding to endless subpoenas depositions and independent counsel investigations of their criminality. That just cuts into time which can be better spent golfing, dismantling environmental regulations, raiding the treasury and starting illegal wars.
