Gay Marriage Used to Spur Voter Drive (Conservative Groups )
WASHINGTON -- Conservative groups plan to use the debate over gay marriage as a catalyst to register millions of voters.

Organizers from more than two dozen groups, including the Southern Baptist Convention, the American Family Association and the Christian Coalition, say they want to make gay marriage the No. 1 social issue in the 2004 election.

The groups planned to announce the voter registration drive Thursday. They will also endorse language of a constitutional amendment to protect marriage as a union between a man and a woman. Polls suggest the public is closely divided on this question, with just over half supporting laws against gay marriage.

The week of Oct. 12 will be designated "marriage protection week." The groups will put out church bulletin inserts in over 70,000 churches and Christian radio shows will schedule programming all week long on the issue.

1. Bring it on

30% of gay voters voted for Bush in 2000. We'll take those now...

On edit: I will hold the religious right personally responsible if their hate campaign causes another Matthew Shepard incident.

6. Do you have something to back...
up that "30% of gay voters voted for Bush in 2000" claim? It's not that I don't believe you, but I would like to look over the statistics.

Thanks bluestateguy! :hi:

2. pay attention to this
"We want to make sure that homosexual marriage is not legal in this country."

What happens when the word 'marriage' is replaced by a different word?

Any word will do.

5. Ahhh

The preoccupation with one's sex life continues unabated.

I remember thru my history class the last time "undesirables" were treated with such disdain in this world.

It wasn't pretty.
