U.S. Says Zarqawi May Be Ill
U.S. officials gave no details as to why they believe Zarqawi may be sick or injured. But U.S. military authorities were quoted this month as saying that Zarqawi had left medical information about himself on a laptop computer that was seized Feb. 20 in his closest known call with American pursuers. When his car was pulled over at a checkpoint outside Ramadi, Zarqawi fled on foot, leaving behind the laptop, photos of himself and contacts, officials said.

A U.S. military spokesman in Baghdad, Lt. Col. Steven Boylan, confirmed Wednesday that officials had "received a tip that there were terrorists in and around the hospital in Ramadi."

U.S. and Iraqi forces "did go to the hospital to act upon the information," Boylan said. He did not confirm that Zarqawi was the target of the raid. The forces left without detaining anyone but were reviewing information from the operation, Boylan said.

In a written statement Friday, Zarqawi's al Qaeda in Iraq group said Americans searched all the rooms down to the air-conditioning ducts but "were not able to find Sheik Abu Musab Zarqawi, even though he was inside the hospital."

5. He's a magic terrorist of evil.
From the article:
When his car was pulled over at a checkpoint outside Ramadi, Zarqawi fled on foot, leaving behind the laptop, photos of himself and contacts, officials said.
~~~~~~~~~~
According to U.S. intelligence, Zarqawi had a leg amputated in Baghdad. Except that most sources now believe Zarqawi is equipped with two working legs. As Newsweek colorfully put in in early 2004, "The stark fact is that we don’t even know for sure how many legs Abu Mussab al-Zarqawi has...
6. I did a thread about that last week after reading the details
on that report, that was the most ridiculous bit i've read in a long time. CNN was referring to him as "the almost captured terrorist".
2. The CSM says more
But the information on the computer was very valuable, he confirms. Among other things, it may indicate that Zarqawi is in worse physical condition than previously believed, and taking painkillers as he recovers from a wound to his stomach.
3. I have a theory about his invisibility cloak.
Every time he uses it, it weakens him a bit. US forces have him on the run, and have had him cornered so many times that he has had to use the cloak before his body has had time to recharge.
He is now sick and US forces can take full credit.
9. the guy has one or no legs and a stomach wound and gets away on foot?
too bad he wasn't riding with the Italian reporter.
I think they already have Zarqawi. I remember reading at least twice from aljazeera that he had been caught, but then nothing from US.
Did u see the Jon Stewart video of the Homeland security guys reaction when bush mentions getting Bin Laden? The guy looked really surprised for just a second. It was very much like either they have Bin Laden or they don't want him.
I think one of them is going to be used to try to save shrubs ass and improve his ratings. I'm hoping with the Blair/Iraq memos that it won't matter who he puts on display for us.
the end is near.....the end of the bushco regime that is.
11. ANYONE WHO REPLYS TO THIS POST AS IF IT WAS TRUE
Edited on Wed May-04-05 11:41 PM by clem_c_rock
NEEDS AN INSTANT BOOT TO THE FUCKING HEAD. Or maybe run to your nearest recruiter's office and sign your gullible ass up for the PNAC/4th Reich war of conquest. The more rednecks and stupid people they can get the better.
This Zarqawi shit just fucking takes the cake. This type thing just makes me loose all faith in human intelligence that people actually buy this and then turn around and pretend to argue "intelligently" about this story as if it was real.
Look, the US is failing beyond miserably and is at the point of complete desperation and are holding on by their last fingernail. They pushing the Zarqawi fallacy to the up most of desperate extremes as a last pitifully gasp right before they fall into the blender.
Yesterday, Fox new's alter ego, CNN ran the idiotic story about Zarqawi's militia losing moral. Today, he's injured and they caught a so-called #1 ranking Al Qaeda "official". Last week it is reported that Mistress Rice is burying reports that terrorism has risen significantly in 2003. Let's see: the "War on Terrorism" (or should we say smokescreen to world domination) is failing beyond all hope - time to pull out a happy story that the invisible boogy-man is losing; today he's ill, and then, in the most predictable fashion, another bullshit story that Bin Ladin is about to be captured. Oh and we're also being told Falluja is now the "safest city in Iraq" (according to propaganda machine, NPR).
Can we get anymore obvious than this?????? Oh wait - you know the "intelligence" that lead us into the war in Iraq - it was faulty and incomplete.
I fucking give up.
still ended up dead, ill and with a new leg--
I know I'm so afraid (very afraid)- he's like frankenstein or something.
I really must run now... I must get back to my tv to watch the news on Fox and CNN.
14. So he's ill now? Hmmm, if I recall...
he was only supposed to have one leg, but was able to elude capture after they shot up his taxi. And now he's ill?
seems to me that if a one legged ill terrorist can elude our crack forces after his taxi was shot to pieces, I think we are using the wrong approach in catching him.
Perhaps, we give our forces seeing eye dogs or maybe some Nike's to run faster or maybe they need a few more laps around the compound, mr. rummys new leaner lighter faster army, seems to be fatter heavier and slower, to me.
32. Doubtful. But We Can Hope...
Considering the--ahem--quality of Rulin' Dubya Posse intelligence on Iraq to date, I suspect that Zarqawi is probably in the pink of health.
I wouldn't be displeased if the news were actually true, though, and I wouldn't be a bit displeased if Zarqawi's health took a dramatic turn for the worse. Zarqawi is a bad 'un. The removal of one of the authors of such death, destruction, and mayhem in Iraq would not be a bad thing.
