U.S. General: Car Bombs May Be Remote
U.S. General: Car Bombs May Be Remote
By ROBERT BURNS
AP Military Writer

In a shift by the insurgents in Iraq, an increasing number of suicide car bombs are being detonated by people outside the vehicles, a senior military officer said Thursday.

Marine Corps Lt. Gen. James T. Conway told reporters that the meaning of this trend is not yet clear but it might suggest that Iraqis, who typically do not use the tactic of suicide attacks, are being forced or duped by foreign fighters into operating vehicles used in bombing missions.

Conway, director of operations for the Joint Chiefs of Staff and previously the commander of all Marines in Iraq, said in the last week to 10 days the number of insurgent attacks involving car bombs has increased, including suicide car bombs.

...

"We're seeing more remote detonation of some of the suicide bombers than we've had in the past," Conway said. At another point he described these as cases "where an individual has obviously been detonated from afar. He has not pulled a cord or done the self-detonation thing."

2. But, still they'll be called "makeshift"
by the American media, so that American citizens are left with the impression - wrong by a million miles - that these "makeshift" bombs are just little homemade things that go off almost be accident.

Listen, if someone invaded the United States, I would be one of the people building and detonating those "makeshift" bombs, and you would not call me an "insurgent." You would call me "patriot."

Remote control suicide bombers. The final Big Surprise.

5. Well, weda dun one the wor if it weren't for dem medelsome kids!
The media and the generals and the White House keep trying to downplay the resistance. Now it isn't really a bunch of suicide bombers, it's really some "foreign fighters" who are "duping" Iraqis into blowing themselves up to kill us. Them poor Iraqis is bein' tricked into fightin' us Americans, whose they luv, by a bunch of bad guys from somewhere else.

How much you wanna bet them "foreign fighters" are traced to Iran? We need a causus belli there, and WMDs won't work this time.

7. Ultimately, the details won't matter much to any one person there.
What matters to these men on both sides of the conflict is that there's another man out there trying to kill him, and when it is over, only one will go home. Sometimes no one makes it back. The survivors are left to make sense of it all. That's war.

a TV, has the Whore Media paraded any bodies on TV and showed their IDs and gone to speak with the relatives of the dead "foreign fighters"? Or is this the same as "an Al Qaeda website said..."?

2. I've posted on the DU for one year now that I don't believe there are as many suicide car bombings as the lying Rumsfeld/Media have claimed. I said they're trying to make all the rebels in Iraq look like insane psychopaths and not as people trying to defend their country from an invading army.

3. After two years of this do you think any Iraqi would drive a car for a "foreign figher" or any strange person?

IS THERE ANYONE LEFT WHO CAN USE THEIR OWN BRAINS?

Something I learned in SE Asia, is dialects. Locals speaking the same language can tell where people are from just by pronunciation. But of course that isn't possible in the Middle East!

11. Yeah, I imagine
say a Saudi group utilizing this technique would have an abundant supply of willing drivers to drive their bombs around... or maybe not.

10. No suicide in the bomber?
Sheesh.
Maybe they shouldn't announce that so openly.
Them Palestinians might get some ideas.
