Security tight in Dutch towns ahead of President Bush’s visit
Security tight in Dutch towns ahead of President Bush’s visit
(DPA)

6 May 2005

THE HAGUE - Final security preparations were being put in place in the Netherlands Friday ahead of the visit of US President George W. Bush.

Mayors in the towns Margraten, Maastricht and Valkenburg in the province of Limburg near the German border, where Bush will stay during his brief visit, invoked emergency rules to keep demonstrators away from the president.

The emergency rules, which went into force at 8 a.m. Friday, were necessary “as there is a serious possibility of disruption to public order in connection with the large-scale demonstrations planned by various groups”, the mayors said.

Troops sealed off the hotel St. Gerlach in nearby Houthem, where Bush will spend Saturday night, with 3 kilometres of razor wire in a roll a metre high.

4. Once again - he's yours, can't you please keep him over
there?! Europe is going to go broke with all these Bush "visits". And emergency rules!!! So far the Netherlands have been a democracy and in democracies one can protest foreign heads of state...

My blood pressure rises every time I think of that Bush gang and that is NOT healthy.

7. Do us a favor
Isn't he going to be close to the Hague? Isn't that where he belongs?

I'd rather see him at the Hague than in the WH and I think most of the world agrees.

Could we impose upon you guys to arrest this varmint and put him on trial?

thank you

6. I hate all this bowing down to Bush
He's a fucking dictator and these other countries are enabling him just as much as some Americans do...

When they suppress the rights of their own citizens just because Bush is visiting they are bowing down to Bush...and you can best believe he knows it.

8. Bush In Europe;
"As President George W Bush heads for Europe to take part in ceremonies marking the 60th anniversary of the end of the World War II, the BBC's James Coomarasamy, examines what the president hopes to achieve.

In Washington there is general agreement that this will be the toughest test yet of Mr Bush's second term in office.

The centrepiece event remains the military parade on Red Square on 9 May - when the US president will be among 56 world leaders, paying tribute to the sacrifice of an estimated 27 million Soviet troops who died in the conflict. "

Local police is outraged at the government quick concessions in spending this kind of money, and feel betrayed their their own security falls short due to budget cuts.

However Local authorities insist they did not give in to all Secret Service demands. Like close down nearby access road for 2 weeks, which will now be closed for a few hours. Secret Service got special permission from the government to carry weapons in the Netherlands, which is normally forbidden.
Noone is allowed within 50 meters from where * will be travelling

A Local Action Group is allowed to hold a "noise" protest during Saturday's arrival at the airport. However under strict conditions like they'll have police escort on their bus and only a maximum of 100 people are allowed which have been screened and searched in advance.
That's an outrage! in a democratic country like the Netherlands!
I am sure though that there will be counter protest elsewhere in the country, like in front of the Embassy in Amsterdam. Mind you last time I was there it was completely barricaded, and you couldn't even come near it.

11. Will the Dutch be allowed to LOOK at bu$hler?
Or will they be confined to their homes, shutters closed, as he passes by in his armored limo?

What a sorry joke America has become.

13. What I want to know is WHY are these heads of state
kissing his ass? Are they afraid of him or are they getting something out of it?

They must know that the voters are going to punish them for cozying up to the Chimp - unless we get to the point of one world government where there IS no voting anymore.....hmmm.

They were liberated by the Americans and Canadians.
However, there are massive protests organized tomorrow in both Amsterdam and the city of Maastricht which is close to where * is visiting. The protesters are showing their outrage toward Bush as well as the local goverment. The local police is in fact outraged over the whole thing. There will be several speakers among which a father of one of the prisoners from Guantanamo and also a doctor from Fallujah
I have contacted some groups overthere to let me know the links to their sites so we can see the photos. Hopefully I'll get answer back.

There are some links to the february protests in Belgium that never made it into our MSM.

14. I don't know why ANY country wants to take in B**sh!
On his visit to England in 2003, he epitomized the "UGLY AMERICAN" perfectly when he totally trashed the Queen's gardens. They chopped up trees and plants from over a HUNDRED years ago to make giant "H" markings for the helicopters. Plus they practically ripped up the palace fabrics to put in wires for the SS's gadgets.
