Britons ready to 'move on' from Iraq: Blair
Prime Minister Tony Blair said he had "listened and learned" from the British people about their priorities for the future, but added that they wanted to "move on" from divisive issues like Iraq.

The prime minister, speaking after winning a third consecutive election, acknowledged that his government's decision to join the US-led invasion in March 2003 had been a "deeply divisive" issue for the country.

"But I also know and believe that after this election, people want to move on. They want to focus on the future, in Iraq and here," he said.

Blair said he would seek to meet voters' concerns for stimulating the economy, as well as improving health, education and public services.

1. Last night on Mike Malloy
a Canadian called in and said that Blair's party is ready to dump him. I would love to see that.

3. It's no secret.
Everyone knows Tony is getting the axe. This really is the best possible result. Labor gets spanked but the Tories still don't win.

5. I certainly hope that he does. He could move to Crawford then
and become Bush's personal plaything. I really don't understand how someone like him can get away with what he did and still be in power. At least not in a democratic country like Britain. I've come to accept that our country no longer is a democracy.

8. He's in power because the alternative was worse.
There was never a chance that the LibDems would win the election outright. But they did make good progress. It is a testimony to the wisdom of the British people that they chose to vote as they did.

2. Meaning of course, that he wants to be able to get away
with stuff like Iraq, and not get any heat for it. They can't move on from Iraq any more than we can, because they're there and people are killing and dying and being maimed. Are people supposed to just move on from their family members deaths, or their wounds, or their PTSD? Are people supposed to just move on from the fact that their loved ones are still there and in danger? Yeah, just wave a magic wand and make it all go away Tony, just because you don't want to deal with the consequences of your own choices.:grr:

4. The best way to 'move on' from Iraq
is to get out of it, and sack the poodle who took us there in the first place. Yes, there's certainly support for that in Britain.

6. "Moving on" from a pit of quicksand is easier said than done
What? He wants Britain to forget that they are mired in a pool of carnage and mayhem of his and Smirk's creation?

Just put out of your mind that Brits and Iraqis are dying and being maimed daily because Poodle had to get it in the rear end from the MonkeyBoy?

Somehow I think not.

7. Dear mr. bLiar;
Edited on Fri May-06-05 10:37 AM by LynnTheDem
WE'RE STILL IN IRAQ KILLING & DYING, ASSHOLE.

Kinda hard to "MOVE ON" when we're still THERE. DUHHHHH. Most murderers wish they could simply shrug and say "oh well, it's done and they're dead and we can't change that so let's just move on."

NEXT MOVE: THE HAGUE.

12. "listened and learned", time to "move on"??
He listened and learned? What did he learn, pray tell? Doesn't seem like he learned anything since he's not changing anything.

People want to move on from divisive issues like Iraq. Yeah, they want to move on from that. That's why they cut your majority by 100 seats. Dumb fuck.

Maybe Labour will dump him now or soon. It's starting to sound like that.

19. The war is still going on, people are dying and the folks at home are
ready to move on to something else.

Funny thing about wars, they have a way of making themselves noticeable and take a toll wether you want to move away from them or not.
