Peace Activist Returns From Iraq (Iraqis fear American soldiers)
Peggy Gish's goal while in Iraq was to deter violence and support non-violent movements. While in Iraq she learned of many disturbing feelings and practices of Iraqi citizens and American soldiers.

While many Iraqis lived in fear under the rule of Sadam Hussein, Gish says the people of Iraq continue to live in fear today, fear of not only insurgent violence but also of American soldiers.

Gish says in a study of 72 Iraqis held by American Forces the occurrences of prisoner abuse where not isolated to the infamous Abu Graibe prison. Gish says the abuse simply increases the anger of Iraqis and provides fuel for the insurgent forces.

Gish and the Christian Peacemaker Team vow to "get in the way" of abuse, mistreatment and especially any form of violence where ever it may be.

1. I ordered Baghdad Burning: A Girl Blog from Iraq (by Riverbend)
It came in the other day and I've gotten about 40 pages read. At first, there was fear when the war started: confusion, dread, instability, etc. Then, though, she began to even feel sorry for the US troops not used to the incredible Iraqi summer heat and longing to be anyplace but there. But, things have changed yet again and it's time for the occupiers to go home.

I've been reading her blog for ages, and have been waiting to see it come out on paper.

3. They fear people who bomb them and shoot them and abuse them?
Seems pretty rational to me.
