Kay Says Some Evidence of Iraqi Programs Found, Search to Continue
By John J. Lumpkin
Associated Press Writer
Thursday, October 2, 2003; 6:07 PM

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Chief weapons searcher David Kay said Thursday he has found no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq so far, but he cautioned his team was still in the middle of an intensive hunt.

On the issue of whether Saddam Hussein had been in the process of reviving efforts to develop a nuclear weapons program, Kay said investigators had found no evidence beyond a possible tentative restart "at the very most rudimentary level."

"It clearly does not look like a massive resurgent program," Kay said on Capitol Hill after briefing lawmakers in private.

1. I imagine...
...that were one to search my home and nearby premises, one would find "no evidence beyond a possible tentative restart at the very most rudimentary level" for WMD "programmes"...

Heck, prolly find more searching the White House...

4. Saddam was
starting to begin to initiate an introductory program to study the possibility of setting on a road that might eventually lead to a first step of getting lists of pre-cursor, multi-use containers that could be modified for future use in a weapons program.

3. Well of course Kay is "still in the middle of an intensive hunt". . .
He's no damn fool. He sees how lousy our economy is, even from halfway around the planet. Would you give up a cushy job -- even one in Iraq? -- to enter this job market? Think of it -- 1200 guys have blown through $300 million in a little less than 6 months and they have diddly-diddly-diddly-squat to show for it. That's something like $250,000 per man! Now their back with their hands out again, looking for another $600 to $900 million with no schedule. The task force could jettison most of its members (how many people do you need to find diddly-diddly-diddly-squat?), and each guy could pocket a clear couple of million take home!

Ask yourself, where's the money going? For rent on a bunch of trucks, for food and lodging for 1200 guys, for a case of children's chemistry sets ('cause I gotta ask, how sophisticated does your equipment have to be when you're testing diddly-diddly-diddly-squat?)? So what are we buying? If ever there was a 'pig in a poke'. . .

5. "I have no regrets about taking this guy out."
Really? No regrets about all that "collateral damage"?

6. Maybe I'm naive ...
... but why do we have to continue searching for non-existent WMDs and spending all that money doing it. To use a Repubican philosophy, it's Iraq's country, why should we go to the trouble of finding them? Let them look for WMDs themselves after they assume control (in their "democracy").

The only reason I can come up with to continue the search is to prove that the Repubicans were right in going to war in the first place. Why? It's a campaign issue to restore credibility. The Repubicans surely don't care if we restore credibility to foreign countries. After all were said that we don't care what other countries think - we're going it alone.

The real reason is to restore credibility to the Repubicans. They can't let the WMD non-issue go and lose credibility with the American public. So all this money that David Kay is asking for is a campaign contribution to let the Repubicans save face.

Let the Repubicans pay for the WMD search out of campaign funds.

7. A Kick (to the Regime's pants!)
Which, BTW, Emperor-Boy is NOT wearing.

OMG, OMG, OMG! We just HAD to invade Iraq because Saddam was going to use those Weapons Of Mass Destruction on us ANY MINUTE NOW! The threat was REAL, it was IMMEDIATE.

Remember how The Chimp told us all on TV that he just knew they were there?

:grr:
