Progress Energy's chief executive faces merger questions, environmentalists and giant rats at the annual shareholders meeting.

ST. PETERSBURG - Progress Energy Inc.'s recent annual shareholders meetings have been pretty humdrum affairs.

By those modest standards, the company's shareholders meeting Wednesday at the Hilton St. Petersburg Bayfront Hotel verged on real entertainment.
