Kennedy says U.S. policy in Iraq is tragedy
http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/N15252594.htm

WASHINGTON, July 15 (Reuters) - Influential Democratic Sen. Edward Kennedy said on Tuesday U.S. soldiers were paying the price for the Bush administration's "arrogant" policy in Iraq and he urged the president to call in foreign troops. snip

"The great tragedy would be that American servicemen are risking and losing their lives in Iraq based on flawed, distorted and failed intelligence," the Massachusetts senator told NBC's "Today" show. snip

U.S. troops are coming under daily attack in Iraq and the number of combat deaths is approaching the 1991 Gulf War total, with 146 U.S. troops killed in hostile action since the U.S.-led invasion on March 1, just one less than in 1991.

"The administration has to give up its arrogant attitude toward foreign policy -- it's my way or the highway -- and bring in the international community (into Iraq)," said Kennedy.

2. I saw that segment...
Shelby followed Kennedy, and all he kept repeating was that the CIA failed Bush. Katie Couric was almost hostile (!) to Shelby, even interrupting him to read from a NY Times editorial.
Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

6. Shelby was an embarrassment
He had nothing to offer except his inane offering that the CIA failed * and was entirely ineffectual. I loved it. And yes, Katie was stunning. She really dug into this report and seemed very serious as she put on her reading glasses and read the damning evidence... It was a great way to wake up! Kennedy offered his brother's take that the buck stopped at his office during the Bay of Pigs and left it hanging that * wasn't man enough to do the same.

8. Bushco policy is to antagonize in several hot spots,
keeping them within striking distance of a major event. Something eventually blows and voila, big story. Now we know why they have the nice bunkers ready to run to (we don't, neither do their voters and enablers in the press).
