Saddam Writing Memoirs From Jail
http://www.voanews.com/english/2005-05-14-voa7.cfm

<snip>

A published report in London Saturday, quotes a member of the deposed Iraqi dictator's legal team as saying "there will be quite considerable detail" in the memoir.

The attorney, Giovanni di Stefano, told The Financial Times newspaper, that Saddam's American jailers have taken a "relaxed" attitude to his writing project, and have allowed his legal team to see some of the work.

Mr. Di Stefano says Saddam is writing about his childhood in Iraq, his time in exile in Egypt and his misguided military adventures.

The defense lawyer is quoted as saying that Saddam's book will try to embarrass the great powers. Among other things, the ex-dictator reportedly will tell how France and Britain betrayed him during Iraq's war with Iran during the 1980s, by appearing to support Saddam but at the same time giving assistance to Iran's Islamic republic.

7. Notice that according to the report
that only SOME of his work was allowed to be seen.

I guess that's a great thing for the PNACers. He's in a foreign country so we can ignore the laws and rights we claim to want to spread over the ME.

11. US law against foreign works?
Wasn't there another charming little Bushlaw passed a couple of years ago that American publishers couldn't edit works by foreign authors, thus basically censoring foreign works from being translated into English?

3. That would make for interesting reading
if the book can make it past the U.S. government. He has some good stories to tell about our government, past and present.

10. Lawyer says Saddam Hussein to write memoirs
http://feeds.bignewsnetwork.com/?sid=e75816dcea052bc8

Big News Network.com Sunday 15th May, 2005 (UPI)

A lawyer for Saddam Hussein has said the deposed dictator plans to write his memoirs while awaiting trial in his Iraqi jail cell, the Financial Times reported.

Giovanni di Stefano, a member of Hussein's legal team, said, "There will be quite considerable detail. The Americans (holding him) are relaxed about it, and we've seen some of the translation."

Hussein will likely seek to embarrass countries that once backed his regime and then opposed him, the Times said. Di Stefano said the memoirs will tell how France and Britain double-crossed the leader by helping Iran's Islamic republic during its eight-year war with Iraq in the 1980s.

I bet it will have some interesting tidbits about the Bush Family!!!
