Leaves back on for New England-based Army Reservists

CONCORD, N.H. -- Army Reservists from a New England-based unit stationed in Kuwait who were told that their leaves were canceled will get them after all, a military liaison and a soldier's wife said Friday.

The soldiers, who were stationed in Kuwait, originally were told they could buy commercial plane tickets home for a leave that was later canceled.

An officer may have mistakenly told the 600 members of the 368th that they could pay for commercial flights home because there were no more seats on military flights, Maj. Pete Mitchell, spokesman for U.S. Central Command in Tampa, Fla., told The Boston Globe.

Gosland said Friday from the information she heard, "all of the soldiers that did pay for their flights will be reimbursed."

"It truly was just a matter of miscommunication and people were very upset," she said.
