Jacksonville deputy suspended after using stun gun on girl

The Associated Press
JACKSONVILLE, Fla.
An officer has been suspended for zapping a 13-year-old girl at least twice with a stun gun while she was handcuffed in his caged patrol car.

An internal report by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said Llahsmin Lynn Kallead was handcuffed and in the back seat of the patrol car when Officer G.A. Nelson stunned her, the Florida Times-Union reported for Tuesday editions.

Nelson and his partner had been called to the apartment Kallead shares with her mother Rosie Vaughan because they were fighting Feb. 7.

Vaughan wanted police to help get medical help for her daughter, who had been hospitalized for observation in the past for emotional disorders, the newspaper said.

4. This is terrible, but not surprising...
the handcuff episode and then the Taser. The policeman was a big guy and she was inside the cage. Glad they decided to suspend him, considering.

9. I did... for ten months
I had a fantastic job, and was actually there when Jebbie got elected the first time. I am very sure parts of Florida are great, and I know everyone in Florida are not crazy Freeper Fundie whackos, but man! Those were almost all I met! And Cubans/Cuban-Americans telling me that Communists planted in the CIA by Castro had secretly installed a microchip in their heads that read their thoughts. No joke -- I had several people tell me this over those ten months.

10. The deputy committed a crime IMHO and a seven-figure damage should be
awarded.

15. The people pay for almost everything. Maybe after a few successful
lawsuits and higher RE taxes as a result thereof, the people will demand their police officers act more responsibly.
