Atlanta courthouse shootings defendant pleads not guilty
Brian Nichols, accused in a deadly courthouse shootout, pleaded not guilty Tuesday to multiple counts of murder, kidnapping, robbery and escape stemming from the March shooting spree.

The pleas entered in Tuesday's arraignment came two weeks after a Fulton County grand jury returned a 54-count indictment against Nichols that includes four charges of murder. (Nichols indicted)

On March 11, Nichols, 33, allegedly shot and killed Superior Court Judge Rowland Barnes and his court reporter inside the Atlanta courtroom. Outside the courthouse, Nichols killed a sheriff's deputy and later killed a federal agent, police say.

If his lawyer is successful with this not guilty plea, I'll have to say he's one hell of a lawyer!

4. What a waste of the taxpayer's money.
There is no doubt at all that he is guilty.

5. Bill Frist, Tom Delay, and John Cornyn
have given him his defense. It's the fault of all those activist judges.

6. My guess
He is trying to avoid the death penalty. So pleads not guilty now in hopes of either a deal or to mitigate the situation to the point where the death penalty doesn't apply. The purpose driven life obviously didn't include him being punished by death :sarcasm:

Now they can spend the summer reporting about this guy's trial vs. anything of real worth.
