Md. Official Loses Job After Using Racial Slur

By Ann E. Marimow
Washington Post Staff Writer
Thursday, May 19, 2005; 6:05 PM

Under pressure from Latino leaders and Democrats, the Ehrlich administration Thursday removed the chairman of a state judicial commission who referred to illegal immigrants as "wetbacks" in his Web log.

Governor Robert L. Ehrlich Jr., through his aides, announced that the administration had rescinded the appointment of William G. Duvall Jr. as head of a panel responsible for interviewing judicial candidates on the lower Eastern Shore.

"Obviously the governor is offended by the remarks. He believes any decent-minded Marylander would be offended by them,'' said spokesman Henry Fawell.

Duvall could not be reached for comment Thursday, but the governor's office said he had been informed of the administration's decision.

3. Mmm. Marty O'Malley.
There's a guy I can't wait to get on the national stage.

He's very cool. And very cute.

4. He is, according to Time, one of the 5 best local politicians
in the whole US

As a maryland Democrat, I have little doubt O'malley will hammer Ehrlich. The only reason Ehrlich ended up in Annapolis (barely---he squeaked in) is because Kathleen kennedy Townsend had such a horrible campaign and annoying public presence. Oh, and Ehrlich found a wingnut black man to run as Lt. Gov to peel off black votes.
