Filibuster fight spotlights Senate's generation gap
From today's Boston Globe, a very interesting perspective on the current "Filibuster" fight.

"Senators George Allen and John Warner represent the same state and the same Republican Party, but they are a generation apart. Warner, 78, is one of the grandees of the Senate, serving in his fifth term with 26 years under his belt. Allen, 53, is one of the body's younger conservative firebrands, serving in his first term.

Their feelings about the current clash over changing longstanding Senate filibuster rules have been visible on their faces during this week's debates. Warner is grave and furrowed, trying to coax a settlement to avoid a move that he feels would damage the institution of the Senate. Allen is almost giddy, eager for his party to flex its muscles as the majority and confirm President Bush's conservative judicial nominees."

1. I only wish there was a hell that both of them could roast in.
They deserve an eternity of hellish suffering. Oh excuse me it must be their job to foist that fate upon "We The People" (sarcasm)

2. I don't see the world in black and white
Maybe it's because of my age and my experience.

I am a Democrat and would never vote for a Republican, but I was very pleased when Warner defeated Ollie North.

I called Warner's office and asked that he vote against the filibuster. I was respectful because Warner may have the courage to vote his conscience, even knowing that the price may be Bush money and media will back an Ollie North clone against him in the next primary if he does so.
