Bush Returns From Michigan With New Saddle
Bush Returns From Michigan With New Saddle

Saturday, May 21, 2005

(05-21) 15:04 PDT Grand Rapids, Mich. (AP) --

Michigan is hardly the Old West, but after President Bush gave a commencement speech here Saturday an aide was spotted carrying a fancy brown leather saddle up the rear stairs of Air Force One.

Bush went to Grand Rapids to give a graduation speech and came home with a saddle emblazoned with the presidential seal and decorated with floral patterns and the president's initials, G.W.B. The White House said it was a gift from two artisans but didn't disclose their names.

According to an article published Saturday in The Jackson (Mich.) Citizen Patriot, 77-year-old James Rice of Hudson, Mich., and his assistant, Danielle Cole, spent 90 hours making the saddle last summer at his farm.

snip...
Bush has been dubbed a "windshield rancher'" because he tools around his Texas spread in a white pickup truck. It's unclear what the president, who seems to prefer bikes to horses, plans to do with the saddle.

1. "seems to prefer bikes to horses"?
Not at all, he's afraid of horses. Riding horses is "hard werk".

3. I wonder what he's going to do with a saddle too! He's afraid of horses!
I feel bad for the people who spent so much time making it cause it'll probably end up tossed in a corner somewhere, or worse!

4. *'s theme song
Drug Store Truck Drivin' Man
Words and Music by Gram Parsons and Roger McGuinn

He's a drug store truck drivin' man
He's the head of the Ku Klux Klan
When summer rolls around
He'll be lucky if he's not in town

Well, he's got him a house on the hill
He plays country records till you've had your fill
He's a fireman's friend he's an all night DJ
But he sure does think different from the records he plays

He's a drug store truck drivin' man
He's the head of the Ku Klux Klan
When summer rolls around
He'll be lucky if he's not in town

Well, he don't like the young folks I know
He told me one night on his radio show
He's got him a medal he won in the War
It weighs five-hundred pounds and it sleeps on his floor

He's a drug store truck drivin' man
He's the head of the Ku Klux Klan
When summer rolls around
He'll be lucky if he's not in town

He's been like a father to me
He's the only DJ you can hear after three
I'm an all night musician in a rock and roll band
And why he don't like me I can't understand

He's a drug store truck drivin' man
He's the head of the Ku Klux Klan
When summer rolls around
He'll be lucky if he's not in town
When summer rolls around
He'll be lucky if he's not in town

23. Ah, leftchick, there IS an excuse for total cluelessness...
or maybe explanation is a better word. Anybody who gets their "news" exclusively from TV will believe that bu$hler is a simple, decent, Gawd-fearin' Christian who justs wants to do right by average Murkins and protect them from Terra.

(Jebus, my fingers need a shower after typing that!)

Without Pickles there while they were making it - we can't be sure if it'll fit right.

12. I've searched the internet and I haven't found a single pic of
Bush* as a grown man on a horse. If he liked riding horses you can bet KKKarl would have had that picture for the campaigns.

Hey, any lurking freepers: post a real one if you have it.

17. bummer, no photographer present the only time W ever rode a horse
In his late twenties, George Bush decided to go horseback riding. Although he had no previous experience he skillfully mounted the horse and appeared in complete command of the situation as the horse galloped along at a steady pace.

After a short time George became cocky and attemped some rodeo moves he had seen on TV. He quickly lost his grip on the saddle, panicked, and grabbed the horse around the neck shouting for it to stop. George had by this time slipped completely out of the saddle and was only spared from hitting the ground by the fact that he still had a grip on the horses neck.

George decided that his best chance was to leap away from the horse, but as he leapt, his foot became entangled in one of the stirrups and his head started banging on the ground as the horse galloped along.

George panicked, and fearing for for his life, started screaming,"help!!!!"

Hearing his screams, the K-Mart manager casually walked out of the store and unplugged the horse.

24. Seriously, even if riding wasn't Bush's favorite pastime you'd think ...
Edited on Sun May-22-05 06:27 AM by bklyncowgirl
that Rove would have managed to find some tolerent equine for macho man rancher boy to do photo ops on. Hollywood animal wranglers have plenty of photogenic moron proof horses.

Maybe he's not afraid of horses--horses are afraid of him.

Sounds like a waste of what's probably a very nice custom saddle.

16. My Mama used to have a saying.....
"no more use for that than a hog has for a side saddle". Now I think it has meaning. Boosh is a hog with a saddle that he has no use for.
