State Police Say Man Died After Being Shot By A Taser (again)
May 23, 2005 8:27 pm US/Eastern
READING, P.A. (AP) A man is dead after punching a window on a suburban Reading municipal building, starting to climb inside, and struggling with police.

Lee Marvin Kimmel died today at Reading Hospital. State police say the 38-year-old man was wearing only a T-shirt and socks when he punched a window of the Spring Township Municipal building.

A state trooper says township police used a Taser gun and pepper spray on him and a struggle ensued. Kimmel’s heart stopped after the struggle and officers performed C.P.R before he was taken to the hospital.

2. Actually, this one seems like it may be justifiable. If he is an acutal
threat to the police officer's life, it is justified. It's definately better than shooting him, and he did use pepper spray as well.

What would you have the police officer do?

7. choices
If he was armed, he would have been shot, and if he was unarmed, he would have been beaten into submission with nightsticks.

If I had to choose between being beaten, tasered or shot, I would choose tasered.

But then again, I have no history of heart problems.

8. They Used Stun Guns That Never Killed Anyone
But that was BEFORE DEADLY TASERS and BEFORE cops were so "trigger-happy" and abusive.

6. The story is brief. The guy was obviously unbalanced...
After being pepper sprayed and tasered, I can only guess that whatever was causing the original agitation was multiplied.
There's no mention of his having a weapon.
