Blair 'not welcome' at war service
The Independent

The families of British soldiers killed in Iraq have fiercely criticised Tony Blair's decision to attend a remembrance service for Britain's war dead.

One grieving relative - the father of the helicopter pilot Philip Green killed in a crash - said the Prime Minister should stay away from the service at St Paul's Cathedral on Friday.

Richard Green, a businessman from Grantham, Lincolnshire, claimed Mr Blair had lied to the nation about the need for war and was ultimately to blame for the deaths of 51 British troops. "He shouldn't be there because he's the one that killed them," he said. The attacks are highly damaging for Mr Blair - coming only days after he avoided an embarrassing clash with Labour activists over his decision to attack Iraq without United Nations backing.

<snip>

Mr Green admitted he felt highly emotional about Mr Blair's presence at the service. "I think he's a war criminal, it's as simple as that. The man, without any consideration to the Labour parliamentary party, elected to go to war with this scabby little friend in Texas , and killed 51 of our men unnecessarily," he said. "If I have a chance to meet him on Friday, I will tell him to his face."

1. I hope he does. Not for the embarrassment factor for Weinie Blair
but for his own grief. Sometimes you just have to
slap a face to feel better. Poor things. HUGS to
all Brits suffering too.

2. WHOA!
That father is sure right on the money, and it's nice to see that at least the British families recognize Blair's role in the deaths of their loved ones. Now, if only we could get Americans to do so as well against Shrub!

14. Actually, us Americans complain when our leaders DON'T
show up at the funerals. Kinda odd difference there.

18. This isn't a funeral
It's an official, all-forces-included, memorial service, in the presence of the Queen, to honor Britain's war dead. Slightly different.

20. "Actually, us Americans complain when our leaders DON'T"
I think the difference here is that it's in...
rather bad taste for the murderer to attend their
victim's funeral. I don't think Ted Bundy would
have been well received in such a circumstance,
and Blair is in the same "scabby little" category,
along with his accomplice Bush.

4. "Scabby little friend in Texas"
I am so sorry for this man's loss. Tony Blair is receiving the type of shunning that - in a just world - the chimp should be receiving here. Both of their sorry scabby asses should be in gitmo.

6. Blair shames the blame for dead Americans too.
He gave credibility to Bush's sham war. I hope that he thinks hard and often about the misery he helped cause. If he has any decency at all, he will respect the wishes of the family members.

13. Owtch! That's got to hurt
At least he tried to go to the funeral. From what I understand, Bush won't go near funerals, or remembrances or anything that has to do with death.

Well, what could Blair expect? He can't say he wasn't warned....month after month, demonstration after demonstration. Just a little poodle, I guess.

Speaking of which, what are the plans for the Bushmeister? Is he just going to visit the Queen, or Blair? What kind of welcome can he expect? (do they have crowd control ready? Those Brits are a little more rowdy than the suppressed Americans are).

19. State Visit
The Queen's the Head of State, Blair's Head of Government.
In the USA the Head of State and Govt. are the same person (Republic).
In theory Bush need not even meet Blair. Not likely . . .
