Pentagon: 3rd Infantry to be home by fall
http://www.cnn.com/2003/WORLD/meast/07/15/sprj.irq.main/index.html

Two brigades of the 3rd Infantry Division are expected to return to the United States within two to four months, according to division officials who disputed reports that the troops had been told they would be in Iraq indefinitely.

The division's commander, Maj. Gen. Buford Blount, sent a message to families saying that the return of the brigades is expected in that time frame, officials said, but that no date has been set because of the situation on the ground.

Senior Pentagon officials said Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld has committed to bringing the brigades home "by the fall."

Last week Rumsfeld had told the Senate Armed Services Committee that he anticipated the final brigade would return by September.

8. Yep
We are STILL in Bosnia and Kosovo after being told that we'd only be there a year in both cases, too.

5. More lies. Today's New York Times:

: "The Pentagon said today that thousands of soldiers from the Army's
Third Infantry Division would NOT return home by September as
expected, but would stay in Iraq INDEFINATELY".
