Arafat declares state of emergency

Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat has declared a state of emergency in Palestinian areas and appointed an emergency cabinet headed by Prime Minister-designate, Ahmed Qureia.

The decree establishing the eight-member cabinet ends lengthy consultations on the issue and bypasses the usual ratification by the legislative council.

Mr Qureia was named to the post last month and had planned to present a larger cabinet to parliament for approval this week.

Let's also hope that OPEC doesn't do an embargo like they did during the 4th Arab-Isreali war.

I think that right about know the crazies in the WH would love an opportunity to raise Bush's ratings with another round of solidarity.

but, is it really possible that these greeder warmongers could have seen this coming?...could have had such long range vision? As things are now, the troops in Iraq are being scattered and misdirected in chaotic fashion to quell the instability BushCo created.

anyone with half a brain saw this coming.

This was definitely one of the unintended intended consequences of the invasion of Iraq -- or any other ME country on the part of the USA.

The neo-cons have Chalabi and the world decrying the US occupation -- and they the perfect justification for high-tailing it out of Iraq in the very near future.

I think it is all going according to plan. I think they wish better things were on the horizon in Iraq, but who are we to say whether Chalabi's dictatorship isn't all ready to roll out against the Iraqi people? Who knows what the hell is going on in Iraq?
