Bush Troops Get Marching Orders For '04
Even for Republicans who live and breathe politics, the message on Saturday was stark and undiluted.

Never mind Sept. 11, the war in Afghanistan, the election victories of 2002, and the march on Baghdad this year -- all of which were supposed to change the way Americans saw themselves and, more to the point, President Bush.

The 2004 race for the presidency will be a replay of 2000 -- a bitter contest that will balance on a razor-thin margin, GOP strategist Ralph Reed told a gathering of several hundred Republican activists who will form the core of the Bush re-election effort in Georgia.

"This remains a '49 percent' nation," Reed said -- a shorthand reference to the fact that in the last three presidential elections, no candidate has won with a majority of the popular vote.

2. It won't be a razor thin margin, imho
I still believe that EVERYONE---even his bfee cronies---will despise this loser by the end of his first term (if they allow him to live that long) and he will leave in disgrace.

3. This line in the quote....gotta love the spinmeisters
"no candidate has won with a majority of the popular vote."

No. Gore won with a majority of the popular vote. Bush and the supremes stole it, plain and simple.

8. No, loudsue, Gore won 48.38%
of the popular vote, while bush won 47.87%.

I agree with you that shrub and the supremes stole it, but Gore didn't win a majority of the popular vote.

5. Knowing your enemy's battle plan
is very important to winning. It's a bit scary to know they're going to work this hard. Knowing this should motivate everyone to work that much harder to get rid of Bush.

... War Chest in the history of politics. That ought to concern us more than a little bit.

Give early, give often, to our Democratic Candidates!!! I know it's tricky in this Bush Economy, but give what you can! It's crucial!

Hell, give 'em five bucks. It doesn't matter how much. It all spends, and let's not forget that!
