UK PRESS:Rupert Murdoch May Be Barred From BSkyB CEO Vote


LONDON (Dow Jones)--Rupert Murdoch's hopes of having his son, James Murdoch, appointed as chief executive of British Sky Broadcasting Group PLC (U.BSK) could be dashed by the company's voting rules for board meetings, The Sunday Telegraph reports.

The newspaper said it has examined BSkyB's articles of association and these appear to prohibit Rupert Murdoch and his four other appointees to the BSkyB board from voting on who should be the next CEO if James Murdoch is a candidate.

The newspaper added that Rupert Murdoch is said to be determined that James should take over at BSkyB, but under pressure from the City he has conceded the need for an open recruitment process to guard against accusations of nepotism.
